2300 2bbl carb.
I have a holley 2 bbl 2300 list #2011, tag BBT 0AA F, I am rebuilding it now, anyone know if there is a ball bearing under the accelerating discharge needle? My shop manual doesn't mention or show one, but the rebuild kit has one and shows one in the diagram. rebuild kit diagram is vague and for different models anyway.

No ball shown in pic of carb (discharge needle), nor listed in parts list. I can't post a pic of the carb until 7/5/2013. Present catalog on bound paper, ordered CD version from hipoparts.com, should be here by Friday. |
Yes, there should be a check ball in there. I've never seen one without. It keeps the fuel from draining back.

This one did not have one from the beginning and the manual does not mention or show one. I re-read the shop manual twice now to make sure I was not missing something. As a matter of fact the accelerator needle housing is milled to the shape of the needle (cone), there isn't anywhere for a ball bearing to go on this model carb. The rebuild kit is for many models, so I wasn't relying on the illustrated parts break down they provide. Their picture showed more component than my carb had anyway. I'm thinking it doesn't get one.

Yeah, found out that my style carb. uses the needle instead of the check ball and weight. See reassembly step 3 note 1.
