Looking at a 1997 CC tomorrow
Hey all, I have been searching for a list of "what to look for" on this generation. I am going to look at a '97 CC Dually tomorrow. It has 178k miles, never been wrecked, and the guy tells me it is really good condition. I owned a '97 about 8 years ago, but I don't remember what to look for on these trucks. I do remember the GP relay can be an issue, but what else might I be looking for? Also, is there a thread on the forum dedicated to issues and technical data? This one is an auto, 2wd, CC, new tires, and nice interior. The AC works, so he says, and it needs nothing. It is all stock and "ready to go". So, that's about it I think. Input?

The stickies at the top of the forum are helpful. The one will take you to this page...
Tips - Idea - Hints He has a whole section on buying (scroll down to the "Buying..." - it's in alphabetical order) and gives you the key things to look for. Miles sound great and if it is clean you may have found a good one. I always like to ask the PO lots of questions to see if they really cared for the truck or not. Receipts are good too. Price really seems to depend on where you are. There is a real regional distortion of the price depending on the rust and miles. Good luck! |
Thanks for the reply. The asking price is $7500, so it seems pretty decent. I'll give an update as soon as I can get up there to LA. Truck is about an hour away.

Tell the seller you want to do the first start of the day on it

$7500 for an asking price doesnt seem bad to me for a 2wd but it would be more than I'd want to pay. I paid $7500 for my 4wd CCLB with 207k miles on it.
As a start to negotiating it sounds alright though. |

Both trucks I am currently considering are 2wd. There is a 4wd CC 350 SRW available, but it is priced at $8900. It has hand crank windows and vinyl floors, which I actually like. It has 240k on the Odo and runs beautifully. I just don't know. it is out of my budget or I would heavily consider it. It's huge!! I forgot how big there truck are just from the factory. We'll see and I'll keep you updated on what I decide. The wife likes the huge one of course. |

if your budjet is in one place and cant support a 4x and you stretch too thin then it wont be a blessing if you cant fix or maintain it later.stay in your means.otherwise you could wind up with none of the above.
But i have to have 4x...otherwise i regret not having it. |

Pretty good price for a clean CCLB 4x4. Esp. if it's a 5-speed. Can't hurt to offer, say, $8k.
Uh, let's keep this about trucks, eh?..... |

Ok, so at this point I cannot post attachments? WTH? I have been on this forum for 2 years now. I'll guess I'll have to ask a mod...
