Need help identifying part asap!
 

Hey guys I got an issue a part on the masyer cylinder crapped the bed, I lost brake pressur in the petal and little brakege, I smely burning which turned out to be the covering over the cables on the plug that plugs into this valve but this valve ia actually what was burning.

you can see it on the right side the orange piece I need to know what this is if someone could tell me or send me links pleease and thank you

If you are talking about the part in the top of the master cylinder consider yourself very fortunate. The brake switch has caused many fires and has even destroyed a home or so where a Bronco or F-150 was garage parked. Evidently power goes through this switch even with the ignition switch off. Switch fails, ignites brake fluid and bad things have happened.

Ford issued a safety recall to replace it free but yours may have missed it.

It is time to take it to a Ford dealer.

Thank you, Ford dealers are closed tomorrow, but I may see it I can get a replacement switch and even cable tomorrow from the local stores, with this switch out will brake fluid leak out?

Your statement "I lost brake pressur in the petal and little brakege" lets me guess yes brake fluid would leak. You might get a helper to press the pedal while you watch for fluid.

Alright thanks, Advance auto sells the new brake pressure switch/cruise control release switch so I'm gonna see if the local one has some in stock.

My only concern now is that my pedal doesnt go to the floor but is soft. Is this basically cause theres air in the MC now?

In hindsight, if someone was pressing gently on the pedal, enough to close the MC's compensation ports and lightly pressurize the brake system, the old switch maybe could be unscrewed and new one screwed in without getting air in, as fluid flow would be always coming out the top.

Once you get your brakes bled, PLEASE take it to a Ford Dealer and have them do the recall action!

They would look at the switch, if it was leaking out of its internal seal, they would replace it (you did that already, so should be OK there). Then they unplug the wiring harness from the switch, plug the harness into a safety harness, and then plug the safety harness into the switch. The safety harness is two wires, one (the 12 volt hot lead), has a 2 Amp fuse in an inline fuse holder wrapped in it. The idea is that if the switch diaphragm goes bad again and brake fluid comes through, the resultant current draw due to the leakage circuit will pop the 2 Amp fuse, before a fire starts.

They would want to mark your truck's serial number off of the recall list, so they probably won't just give you the fused safety harness over the counter, they probably want to install it themselves to meet the recall liability requirements. It's all no charge anyway.

I stopped at the Ford Dealer on the way home from work, got an appointment next Wednesday!

Wow Ryan, I wondered what that switch was, but mine is located about half way closer to the booster and on the side. I wonder how to check to see if the recall has been done on my '93

The VIN number can tell you, you may have to call the ford dealer though. I had found old posts from when the recall was released (back in 05' or 06') and some people compared the old vs. new like I did. I also saw an article somewhere on the web where they described the original brake pressure switch being red/orange, so I realized mine was original. When I went to the ford dealer they said the recall hasn't been taken care of on my truck.

They recalled my 94. It took many months before including back as far as 94 You may want to ask Ford to check again on your 95.
