Coolant flush

Flushed out the Expy tonight, it left me a little confused. I drained and collected the old coolant. Topped off the system with water and ran the truck for a while with the heat on hi, then drained the system again. I repeated the process a third time. When I added the new coolant I could only get it to take 7 qts. It should take far more then that. That is going to leave my coolant strength far to low. Should I go for a long drive, come back and drain off more mixed coolant and replace it with pure coolant to increase the ratio. ???

Well, I am betting that after your drive you didn't leave the heater on and when you drained it, the system left a qt or so within the heater system....really not that big of an issue....

What I would suggest is picking up a coolant bulb type tester (about $12) and test the freeze/overheat level....I think you will be surprised at where you are at....then if need be, drain a little and add 100% coolant- that should bring you up to where you need to be.
