Things to look for in 99-04 Lightnings?
While taking a look at the used trucks for sale in the area I've seen a few Lightnings popping up, but most of them have over 90,000 miles. I've got very limited supercharger experience, so is there anything I should look on one of these higher mileage engines? What's the typical life of a factory supercharger before it needs to be serviced?

look for signs of removed mods if it's been pullied it needs to come with a tuning device no WOT shifts into OD, no two-gear kickdowns if the supercharger has been ported then the oil has been changed, now if it's been run with conventional oil VS supercharger oil then it'll need to be changed every 5k miles or so just like the engine oil |
Thanks. This is the kind of stuff I was hoping to hear.
I read that the 03-04 models are the ones with the better heads so they don't have the plug spitting problem. Hopefully that's accurate. |
