How to rebuild a 4.6 v8....books, errors
 

Just a heads up to anyone rebuilding a 4.6 and using the how to book "how to rebuild 4.6/5.4 triton" by work bench.
Page 108 says the "crank gear shoulders face towards the timing cover..... this is INCORRECT.
The gear shoulders face "EACH OTHER" I saw this first hand and my oem manual shows it page 303-01b-210, BUT, don't trust the oem book either without checking other sources or "YOU WILL BE SORRY".
Digital pictures, sketches and close attention will verify most of these potential issues.:-X04
