Hard cover Tonneaus and truck boxes

Hello.

Quick question. I have a thin style truck box. It has served me well in the 1 1/2 years I have owned it. I keep all kinds of stuff in it like a spare towel for the dog to some basic tools to help make a quick fixes on the road to my towing equipment for the trailer. I recently purchased a bakflip G2 but I know my truck box will have to go.

Currently, I am looking for another box to hold all my gear for the truck. How are you FTE members going about this? Keeping stuff in the garage is not an option since I do not have one. My shed and basement already have enough stuff in them. Are you guys going with an in bed truck box? How are you mounting them?

Thanks!

You can use one or two (one on each side) Undercover Swingcases.

Undercover ™ is the new standard in tonneau covers. Our Patented X-effect ™ design and advanced polymers give this tonneau cover unparalleled strength and durability at a fraction of the weight and less cost than fiberglass.

Hello!

Just a quick update. I wound up with a Bakflip G2. Very nice cover BTW. Looks clean with the truck. Ease of use was pretty important as my wife would need open the cover once in awhile. I wound up buying a poly truck box from Tractor Supply. The dimensions were where I needed to be for all the stuff I carry. Surprisingly, the amount of the room I have in the new box is about equal if not a bit more than what I had before. I carry all kinds of stuff like hammers, towing hitches, WDH bars, a small tool kit, cargo straps, tarps, moving blankets, oil, grease gun, etc. Everything in the box has been used on several occasions. The box is just strapped to the front wall. The only downside is I have to under strap the box so I can open the top up to get to the items I need. Not really a problem for me though.

I hope this helps someone else in a similar situation.

Instead of undoing the strap, you can always shim the back of the box away from the cab with a 4x4 or something larger. Maybe even build an "H" with 4x4's and 2x4's and just set it behind the box.
