A couple of quick questions

1986 F250, 460 cu.in., 2WD

Just a couple of questions about the old truck...

Is the dome light supposed to come on when the door opens? It works when you reach up and turn it on manually.

The metal tubing connected to the power steering pump swings forward and backward. The nut is tight. Is there some practical reason for this or is it supposed to be stationary when tight?

To answer #1 yes the middle light is supposed to come on when the door opens. If it does not

1 no power x wrong you can cut the map lights on you say

2 center "dome" bulb is blown~ possible, replace if bad

3 door switch is stuck or bad~ possible, manually work your switch, spray around push button with dielectic spray

To answer #2

I dont know for sure but mine do not move easily. I dare not put more pressure on mine as i am a hulking clutz and am afraid of bending, kinking, or breaking something. In dealing with a compression type fitthing over the years it should not move without a good bit of force. Doesnt seem quite right.

It doesn't surprise me that they move, they have O rings and are designed to be able to move to accommodate engine movement and to transmit less vibration.
