retractable license plate

I am so lucky to live in a state that requires a front license plate and that has crappy weather. Anyone here have any experience with a front plate retractor especially in a state that has lousy weather?

I think I'm missing something. What does having a front plate have to do with bad weather?

retractable plate

What it has to do with bad weather is getting the crap i.e. salt, sand, and winter road trash in the mechanism and if the motor in the plate assembly is affected by it.

No. Who has a retractile license plate?

If it's required by law, I'm sure any mechanism that retracts it would be illegal.

it is an interesting debate.. yes it is illegal to dirve without a front plate I would like to pull my plate back for car shows( we pull a trailer with cars and would like the expy to look nice as well) some say you need the plate parked or driving some say driving only.. My son drove his 911 for about a year with no front plate after someone backed into him and broke the mount.. ( he hates fhe front plate as well.)
so he left it off .. finally after a year got pulled over by a county mounty for no plate.. I dont think the mount is illegal but having the plate retracted while in motion is.. but you could always do Hmmm Sorry officer you must have not had enough coffee and dougnuts.. LOL... as he writes me the ticket..

Keep the plate in your car. It's a fix it ticket at best. Tell them it just fell off or you were just going to install it, etc. Not worth some motorized contraption.

This is the one I know most guys use

They have a manual (non motorized) version too
