2010 radio removal

I am getting ready to tear into the factory nav install... How does the dash come apart to get the radio out?

I just don't want to start yanking and break something!

Thanks for the quick help!

During my ill-fated attempts to install a "Lockpick" in my 2007, I found some very helpful videos that walk you through it. I think the company's name was Coastal Technologies or something?

Try searching on Youtube and you might find it... look for Navigator Radio Removal or something like Expedtion Radio Removal and it might turn up.

Otherwise, dig up their website and they should have links.

I've tried to block that whole episode out of my mind, but their videos were very good.

gpfarrell, was wondering what experience you had with the lockpick

On the pre-Sync radios, their "plug and play" solution involved disassembling the radio which they assured me was no big deal.

I put the engine in my Mustang, so I thought I should be up to it.

Long story short, the touch screen in my radio was destroyed while I followed their directions.

In the meantime, they had sent me an incomplete kit and they were very unresponsive in sending me the missing pieces.

After the entire operation failed and I returned their product, they'd neither refund my money or return my calls. I documented my case to VISA who cheerfully helped me.

Then I bought a used radio off of Ebay for about $600 and paid the dealer a few dollars more to get it programmed to my vehicle.

I posted more extensive details a few years ago, but personally I'd rather not dredge them up. I'm sure a Search would find them. I really wanted a functional back-up camera and the 2007's didn't have them. I bought a rearview mirror with the integrated screen and that was a very easy way to accomplish my goal.

Google around a bit and you'll learn of others' experiences. Some people are very happy with some of their products. Buyer beware.

I found a whole kit on eBay. Guy was unreal how much he helped. I will post up his name once the deal is done. Long story short.. Install took me several hours.. Pulling console last night.. Dash steering column trim.. Kit came with amplifier and all.. One little hang up.. The backup camera connector was not in the kit.. Was supposed to be and he is now on top of it. I'm sure it will be fine. Otherwise I'm up and running. Works like a charm. I'm actually at dealer now getting the Sync updates done. Would not allow me to do update because my software version was so old! Once the camera connector and lead gets here I will share the name and phone number with his permission for anyone looking to do a Factory nav upgrade. I have n Eddie Bauer.. Has everything but nav and has Sync.

Ford def got the nav right compared to my nav in my 2011 Denali HD Truck. My factory nav in my truck is old school compared to Ford Sync/factory Nav. The only thing I am critical of so far is you have to load the DVD in the rear. My Denali is loaded up front for the rear DVD.

Here is a write up I did when I installed an oem nav unit in my 07.
