03 F150 4.2L V6 PCV Valve WITH PICTURES
 

I only registered for the forum so that I could make a thread with detailed pictures of where the PCV valve is on an 03 F150 V6. I recently couldn't find mine and noticed that no one ever puts up pictures. What a pain for those that are searching.

It is on the passeger side of the INTAKE MANIFOLD. IT IS NOT ON THE VALVE COVER LIKE I HAVE SEEN STATED IN 99% of the threads over the matter.Here it is with 1 of the three hoses disconnected.

And here it is with 2 hoses disconnected. The 2 small hoses are heater hoses. The big hose is the actual pressure release tube that goes down to the valve cover.

Here are all three hoses taken off. You will need a T-20 torq bit to take it out of the intake.

I noticed, after 125,000 miles with no problems, a mysterious oil depletion problem. As you can tell by this picture:

It looks like my PCV valve was stuck open causing oil to flow into the intake. THe mystery of the F150 PCV valve SOLVED!

This might be a little old but I have to ask,

The big hose that goes back to the valve cover. Do you think that it would be a good idea to put some clamps on both ends of the elbow? Mine slides off with little effort.

the part with you've taken off with three hose connectors, what's the correct name? because if you follow that center big hose it leads to the pcv that's on the valve cover.

Apparently 2001 and 2003 4.2 take a different PCV valve.

i do have that pcv valve that is first posted here and looks like it is leaking a little oil. i already changed out the pcv valve that i posted. im just trying to find a air leak. getting the p0171 p0174 banks too lean. also installed new fuel filter.

The PCV valve for my 2002 F-150 with the 4.2 V6 is exactly like the one in the pictures posted by one4house. I got an exact replacement from NAPA. It was an easy change as long as you have the T-20 TORX bit which can fit in a tiny ratchet. The screws are more like wood screws than machine screws and are very difficult to twist by hand. Also, be sure to let the engine cool down and the coolant is de-pressurized before you remove the two small rubber tubes. The pictures were excellent and made my job easy.

In my 2001 I have the standard old style PCV valve in the passenger side valve cover as well as the PCV valve in the intake as pictured. Is this normal? I don't even see the intake mounted PCV valve listed in parts books until 2002. I just replaced the valve in the valve cover and now I'm wondering if I should do the other one too.

Since I just bought this new-to-me 2002 F-150, I'm still learning about it and I don't know the answer. I've been looking for the "standard old style PCV valve in the passenger side valve" and I haven't found it yet. I can't see why there is a need for more than one PCV valve. I'm hoping someone else will offer some info on this.

Re-reading the older posts above, it appears that the 2001 was the last year to have your style and that 2002 was the first year to have the one in the pictures above.
Any corrections or contributions from others would be appreciated.

New question about my 2002 V6 which is related to the PCV Valve:
There is a tube going into an elbow, into the top of each valve cover. The driver's side tube goes to the air vent tube between the MAF sensor and the throttle body. The passenger's side tube APPEARS to go to the PCV valve just below the IAC valve. Can anyone explain the function of both tubes and does the PCV valve control both tubes even though the one on the driver's side goes to the throttle body intake?
