1979 F350 4x4 Find
Found this little truck on Craigslist and promptly snatched it up :9
http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/...l/image-39.jpg IT is a 79 F350 Single Cab 4x4 that retains its factory Dana 60 axles. http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/...l/image-41.jpg http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/...l/image-40.jpg Since I have another major project going on right now, I figure I am going to have a little fun in this thing for a while. The body is and interior is trashed, but that is not why I bought it. 2wd doner trucks are plentiful and cheap. I am thinking about looking for a cheap doner truck and swapping out the body. Any suggestions? |
Nice find, how much were they asking for it?
|
nice find, sadly that would count as a decent body around here

Nice find with the D60, looks like an old farm or oil field rig.

Asking price was $3000, but the guy would have probably got $2000 or so out of it.
I actually ended up trading him strait across for a 1993 F250 Turbo Diesel 2WD. Since I bought the Turbo Diesel for $860 from a neighbor, my purchase price was $860. Now I have to convince the wife that it is not "ugly." I may have to end up selling it to keep the wife happy :-huh Oh well, I am building a 1970 F250 with a cummins, nv4500, np205, dana 60 front & 14 bolt rear - so I will have essentially the same type of running gear under a 1970 Truck (plus the cummins & 5 speed of course). We will see though. I am going to try and sell the wife on the idea that the truck is a essential firewood getting truck :-X04 |
I see it has round headlights. Weren't rectangular headlights standard in '79?

I was under the impression that square headlights were optional in 78 and standard in 79.

Both round and rectangular headlights were available on 78/79's, but round headlights are far less common on 79's, most were only found on custom level "fleet" vehicles.
