Hi gang.

Been busy doing little stuff on the truck.

Worked on all the spots and signal lights. 2 spots will be back up light, 1 'A" pillar on the left side, and 2 6' red Signal lights for the front bumper. Took them all apart, cleaned them up on the buffer, added new wiring.

The 6' red ones will have to be painted. Chrome is shot.

Then took apart my mirrors. All the arms will be painted silver, but I was pleased to find that the actual mirrors were stainless steel, with 61 years of paint on them. I cleaned them up and they came out ok.

I will have to get all new door handles. they work, but are really pitted up and look like doodoo

Then I temporarily mounted my doors. (thanks Charlie ) I will drill the alignment holes tomorrow.

I used my axle cribbing blocks

I used my axle cribbing blocks to help align the door. Along with some 1 by and door shims, it helped getting the alignment right.

Looking good!

I just thought you had an industrial sized Jenga game.

Hey Harrier,
Sometimes, it feels like my whole build is a Jenga lol

Looking good Jim,

That's a heck of a stack of blocks and shims. You're a patient man....lol
Its paying off, things are looking great. Those mirrors came out looking nice.

Hi Gang,

Been having a good couple of weeks. I purchased my bed wood. It is Cypress and started finishing it today. I also got some diamond plate for a few places and also installed my booster reel. Hopefully, I will have the bed floor in this week or next. the spar varnish is a little tough to dry in this humidity.

JimG1098 06-20-2015 04:21 PM

I had the polished SS bed strips custom made by Mar-k out of OK. The wood, I got from a cool lumber place near here in Hurlock MD. He goes down to LA to get it.
The diamond plate is also custom cut to order by Metals Depot.

The support for the bed wood is 1 x 2 Alum channel. It is attached to the frame rails with beam clamps. The Almu channel also came from Metals Depot.
