Old injectors - anything unusual?

Looking for some insight from those familiar with injectors. My novice mind imagines that looking at an injector's outer condition might be able to shed light on overall engine health, like inspecting spark plugs. I don't know what sort of feedback I could get from FFD when I send these back, if they even say anything other than "This one can't be rebuilt," or something like that. I may be wrong. In any case, here are a few pictures of what I found when pulling injectors Saturday. I've got them boxed up to send off for cores, I have two more pictures mostly showing the same thing seen here.

#8 is new, replaced by me in April this year. #4 is a reman (supposed to be new) replaced by a Ford dealership in Georgia late in May this year. The discoloring of all injectors looks pretty even to me, at least from the older injectors.

This is the #5 injector. There is some red/brown buildup on this and #3, those are the only two with this buildup. Not sure what that is or what it might mean. All injectors, except #7 (weird) had carbon buildup on the tip. Some were much worse than others, and even the brand new injector and reman had buildup around the nozzles. I'm guessing this is pretty normal, but I don't know how much is normal. The previous owner was running a bullydog tuner, I reverted to stock prior to replacing injectors.

So, these look pretty normal? Better/worse than what you've seen from your own rigs?

Well dang. Guess that would help... There are pictures in the original post, I think I just had the album settings wrong. They should be visible now.

Are you uploading the pictures from your computer to a host like ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting

Never used those sites before, I just put them in an album on this site and linked to them. I can see the pictures just fine, guess it's just not working.

Alright, I think I got them to work now.

All look normal to me, In fact the ends of yours look cleaner than mine were (not the tip, the end of the injector before the tip).

Mine at 165K miles:
