Big window swap

Is it hard to swap to the big window in a 63 uni? Where do you get all the parts?

garbz2 11-03-2012 06:46 PM

You need to salvage a big window frame and trim from a big window uni.

Here is a big window I installed in a 64 model 81 cab.

Interested!!

Hey man how’s it going? I am looking into doing this myself as I have never seen it done except for your picture! I wanted to maybe talk a little more about it and see if you have any more pictures of your truck. Looks great, hope to talk soon!

Since this thread is almost 10 years old you may not get the info you are looking for... Check out this post on Unibody Union.... it's a non uni cab that has been modified. https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=...21248551747654

thanks

Hmmm, link works for me, but it is probably because you have to join Unibody Union to see the images.... Search them on Facebook.

Thank you sir! I am in the process of joining that group on Facebook! I will keep you posted! That truck looks badass! Hard to believe it started and a small window truck!

Cool, There are a bunch of F100 Facebook groups with great info. In doing the BBW swap, the hard thing is finding the sheet metal and trim. Oddly, the glass is the easy part, you can have it made and several of the usual F100 resellers sell it!

bagged65f100 08-22-2021 11:03 AM

Thank you sir! I’m actually planning on doing a BBW swap on my 65, it’s obviously not a unibody truck and they never came with the BBW. So I am planning on buying a rusted out BBW uni and doing the swap my self but it is definitely a big undertaking. Here is my truck currently

Very Nice! That frame and air setup looks sweet. Are those 26's you have mocked up there?
Here is my '62 BBW. Hoping to have it on the road next Summer. I am currently welding in the floor patches and doing a few subtle sheet metal mods.

They were just mock ups so I could get my tire height and width down, it’s a 30” tall tire on a 20” rim

Awesome. I love the seat cowl and console work. Also the shaved cowl vents. Are you going with an aftermarket AC system? Wondering because I am planning to close up my cowl but not sure I want to eliminate the fresh air in the cab... What's your plan on that?

Here is my overall plan... Before and some photoshopped final looks.....

Just got the upper grill panel roughed in... The hood emblem will get shaved....

To 7BercMerc, what year & type of seats are you using (T-Bird?) and what details can you provide on your front I-Beam and power steering system?
To bagged65f100, wow, really nice truck you're building here! Modern Powertrain, bagged, and the panoramic rear window will add to the overall asthetic of the truck.
A local fellow up here also added the unibody Big Back Window to his 1964 F100 cab and it looks great in there.
Good luck on your builds -- Pete
p.s.: I wish to again pay my respects to Garbz (post #2) who was a respected fellow member and contributor to this foru -; he passed was too soon and is missed R.I.P. Garbz...

Yes, T-Bird... The ones in the photo are 65's but I also had a pair of 67's and I am going with those. They are a little larger and a better fit I think. I had the straight axle dropped by Sid Drapal. https://droppedaxles.com and I am using the Posie Super Slide springs. I am using a CPP power steering kit for the 57-60 F100. I modified the mounting bracket to use the stock holes in the frame. I am using a hydraulic clutch as the z bar and the relocated PS Box conflict.
Are those Mustang seats in your '63?

unilover6163 12-06-2021 11:20 AM

You have a nice looking project there.

Yes, my friend gave me a set of bucket seats that came from his father-in-law's 1968 J-Code 302 Mustang.
I do however, like the T-Bird seats as they are larger and likely more comfortable.
Who did your upholstery?
Are your T-Bird seats custom covered or is that a 'kit?'
Thank you, Pete
