The truck itself is not worth but about a grand, in my eyes, too much cancer. The Diesel engine is intriguing to me though, but it sure looks tall to fit in the engine bay. No guarantee it runs, or that the tranny is any good, not to mention the clutch.
I would not personally take a chance on it. Has anyone ever fit that engine/ tranny combo into a Fridge? |
4BTs are tall and heavy. They have been put in MANY types of trucks. You'd need the right pan, but quite sure it's do-able. There is a very active website dedicated to 4bt conversions. I's called 4btswaps.com. They are 3.9 litres and about 140 hp depending on turbo, intercooler etc. Much more plentiful and easy to get parts for than the cummins 6at I'm running in my fridge. And more low end torque. If I did anything over again on mine it would be a closer ratio 5 spd. The sm465 has big gaps between the usable gears. The 6at is a spinner though 3600 rpm as opposed to 4bt's 2200.

I'm not involved in selling this truck. I only posted it for information to anyone that might be interested in this type of truck and/or engine swap and wants to pursue it. I think it would be a neat combo in an interesting truck. I would think that the parts alone are worth 2 or 3 times the price and the price is OBO. $4300.00 is what he would like to get but he's flexible on it, to some degree. If no one here jumps on it it's a dead issue. :-X15

No worries. It gives us a reason to chime in, even if nobody ever buys it. I just like to talk. Or write.......

6at cummins from a UPS truck. Same size as the 223 in physical dimensions. In fact with a couple of easy mods to the hold down bolts on the cummins, the 223's valve cover would bolt right on making it look like an original Ford diesel. It's a much smoother running engine than the 4bt, and it bolts up to any gm tranny. I have one in my 54 gmc dumptruck and one in my 59 f350 flareside. A friend converted the jimmy when he owned it, but I did the Ford Swap. I'm always blabbing about it. My build thread was 'kinda like a hotrod, but it isn't hot', or you may choose to view my youtube video '59 f350 with cummins 6at'. Almost seems you had to be hiding under a rock last winter to miss all this the way I was :-blah about it. Well here it is again......

The engine/tranny in known good condition are worth about $3500 tops and can be found for less. The truck would be a stretch at $800, so no bargain really.
