Add LEDs to cup holders

Anyone add any LED mods to their F150 cup holders?

Don't like taking my eyes off the road when puffing on a nice cigar and enjoying the evening on the road.....

So I figure LEDs would light up around the cup holder and help show lite up where the ash tray is w/o looking blindly or taking eyes off road.....

I've seen some pics but w/o any wiring diagrams would not know where to begin......

open to ideas......:D

Thanks.....

Most of the chain autoparts places have 12v led kits in various colors for this and other purposes. Many have a decent length pigtail. Find a dash light wire to tap and a ground stud. I would drill a hole in the back of each cup holder and fish the wires through the hole, under the carpet to the dash area where you found the dash light wire. Drill the hole so that the fit is snug and so that the led doesn't stick out too far. You may need to color the top with a black sharpie or similar to prevent glare. Depends on the led.

A variation on this theme is to install one that shines down on the cup holders from the console area.

We do this for some control components don't have panel lights.

i have added lights to my cup holders. they work really well. but to get your ash try to light up i think you would have to put a light there. but i would really recommend lights in the cup holder. it saves you from making a mess by spill a pop all over the floor.

i used the flexible led strips you can get from advanced auto parts. i originally had the full 6 led strip that you could cut in half in there but then i took them out cut them in half and only used 3 in each cup holder it makes for a softer light.

i took the other halves of the strips and solder a wire to the copper contact on the back and put those ones in my air vents for a really cool look.
