Limits on propane horsepower ?

Hey,

Just wondering......

What is the limit on propane power?
I mean, if you have and engine that puts down 200 hp or whatever, why tinker with fuel pump upgrades and such if you could add the power with propane and keep the stock injectors and fuel system so it runs right...

So many trucks with hopped up fuel pumps and shower head injectors, sure power is nice, but is propane a viable option if you want big power on a truck that runs nice as a daily driver?

yeah there is a limit. since it is fed in through the intake and not direct injection, there is no control over timing. as a result excessive propane will give you very high cylinder pressure and temperatures. at that point things don't last long. done within reason it can be impressive, go nuts and it will be a whole nother kind of impressive. done right it adds to the power, without being the main fuel source. since there is already some fire in the cylinder(from the propane) the diesel ignites more easily and quickly when injection occurs
