The op has stated 95.

He said that's the year of the transmission, not the year of his truck. It does matter.

mikerans 10-03-2012 12:13 PM

ok, my truck is a 1995 f150 xl with a 4.9l straight 6 engine with a 4x4 E40d transmission. the other truck was a 95 f150 with a 302 engine with a 4x4 E40d transmission.

Should be a direct swap then.

ok, sweet, thanks guys, but just of curiosity, if the other motor was a 351 would it still be a direct swap?

Evan_P 10-05-2012 11:54 AM

It would only make a difference if it was out of a 460 or a diesel.

Redneckfordf2502002 10-05-2012 12:07 PM

What Evan P says is correct. The 351 is a small block just like the 302, 300 inline 6. The 460 is a big block so is the diesel so they won't have everything the same.
