Installing 300 l6 into 1959 f100

I have a 1959 ford f100 that someone installed a 239 y block in. I want to pull that out and install a 300 inline six,and was wondering if the t98a transmission would bolt up to a 300. Also will I need to change the motor mounts and trans mounts? Are there adapters to adapted the bell housing from the y block to the 300 l6? Any help on this would be great!

Fender,if you use the search function for this forum, check out what member "Col.Flashman" has done with his 1958 w/ built 312 I6.It is really impressive.

Do not believe the T98 will bolt up without an adapter,I could be wrong. We also have an Inline 6 section in FTE's Forums.Good luck.

It shouldn't be too hard to just switch to a t18/19 or NP 435. You will have to deal with the clutch actualtion issue. I think there were some early 90s pickups with 4 speed that used an external hydraulic clutch and you could find one of those bellhousings. Otherwise you will be looking at dealing with the hydraulic/ manual clutch conversion. It might also be a good time to just get a ZF or Mazda 5 speed, they are hydraulic too but the slave is inside.
The old T98 are tough but unless you routinely need the compound 1st gear, they are just a big clunky shifting 3 speed.

300 /6 install

You can use a bell from a later F series with the 300 six . I don't know what year the smaller trucks went to the side mounts on the engine but the larger truck bells with side mounts will work for you, the front mount will fit also.
Many of the F 500 up trucks used the T 98 trans with the same bolt pattern as yours. Let me know if you need more info.
