Hey it's the September BS thread!!!

Thought I would get a start on the new BS thread!

Beer is good!

dlibson 09-01-2012 07:22 AM

Did you stay up late just to make a new thread Troy? LOL

Good morning everyone!

wildstang 09-01-2012 08:16 AM

Good morning, have an awesome September and great Saturday MN.

About time you get the September thread going Troy. LOL

fordpower88 09-01-2012 08:18 AM

Good morning Dave and the rest of the gang stopping by!

No I didn't stay up just to make a new thread. LOL Just happen to think of it when we got home from having some cold ones with some friends that stopped by last night.

fordpower88 09-01-2012 08:19 AM

Good morning Jim! I was surprised I remembered! Lol

wildstang 09-01-2012 10:09 AM

Your catching on. Awesome day here.

Excursion4X4 09-01-2012 11:33 AM

Good September all!

msmenne17 09-01-2012 02:44 PM

Good afternoon everyone!!! House fixing today. The grout and caulk around the bottom two rows of tile in our shower have deteriorated to the point that the tub is now leaking inside the walls. It's been doing it since before we moved in. Figured it was time to scrape all the old crap out and reseal it. I should re-grout the whole thing, but I'm not that ambitious today. I'm just going to caulk over it and call it a day for now. When we get to redoingt the whole tub, I'll fix it right.

I might even get ambitious enough to fix the basin in the upstairs shower. It's some kind of cement basin and has hairline cracks in it. It hasn't been used in over 40 years and hasn't been fixed. Everyone assumed the whole shower would have to come out. Turns out it's just hairline cracks. Found a thing called Hydraulic Cement that looks like it will be perfect. Found a reference that someone uses it to fix leaky swimming pools. If that doesn't work, I don't know what will.

wildstang 09-01-2012 04:12 PM

Good luck in your home improvements Michael

msmenne17 09-01-2012 09:33 PM

Got to the main floor tub this afternoon. It's not pretty, but if it quits leaking, I don't care.

I'll tackle the upstairs one tomorrow. The cracks are soooo minimal, so I'm going to simply try some waterproof paint first instead. I've got some that is intended for keeping basements dry.

wildstang 09-01-2012 09:55 PM

Most home projects take longer than hoped for. That is annoying

DieselCamper01 09-01-2012 11:07 PM

Hey now nobody said my poker was small just that "it" was smaller so it shouldn't poke her on the way home. LOL

Happy September and Merry Saturday.

And good night. It's way past my bed time.

dlibson 09-02-2012 08:14 AM

Well I know, but that's hard to get in a tag... LOL

Good morning everyone, we've made it to Sunday!

wildstang 09-02-2012 08:33 AM

Good morning and have a great Sunday MN.

Size of the poker doesn't matter as long as long as you get the fire box stoked. LOL

dlibson 09-02-2012 08:36 AM

LOL, good morning Jim!

wildstang 09-02-2012 08:47 AM

Hi Dave awesome day here clear and should be a high around 74

dlibson 09-02-2012 09:04 AM

Sounds nice! Same here, but a bit warmer. Like 83.

wildstang 09-02-2012 09:23 AM

Good weather for camping.

You get to skip your most hated day of the week tomorrow. LOL

dlibson 09-02-2012 09:41 AM

I know, I am soooooo excited! Should be that way every week. But then again, Tuesday would just take it's place...

wildstang 09-02-2012 10:01 AM

You just have to randomly pick a different day to replace it to keep it fresh. LOL

dlibson 09-02-2012 10:26 AM

Now there's an idea.

Better yet, send me a couple million dollars and I will retire.

dlibson 09-02-2012 10:40 AM

Alright, time to get some stuff done around here! Catch ya later Jim.

wildstang 09-02-2012 11:11 AM

Catch ya later Dave. I'll just hang out at the campground

msmenne17 09-02-2012 11:45 AM

Good morning everyone!! Trying to work up the ambition I had yesterday to get stuff done around here. The bathtub on the main level is still leaking. I think it's hitting the doors, running into the channel, then out the side of the tub and under the linoleum. The linoleum is coming up in that corner and that's about where the floor is leaking downstairs. Now to figure out how to seal it up so the water drains out of the door channel to the proper place and not onto the floor and under the linoleum. Then, I can take a stab at the shower upstairs and see if we can make it functional again after 40 years of not being used.

HP junkie 09-02-2012 01:09 PM

Hello all, still at the lake refusing to leave. We eventually have to but not wanting to accept it.

wildstang 09-02-2012 01:41 PM

That right there is a very valid argument. LOL

I don't blame you Cory.

Kitchen is all painted! YAY!

wildstang 09-02-2012 02:50 PM

Congratulations on finishing painting the kitchen Jay

msmenne17 09-02-2012 03:14 PM

Congrats Jay. At least someone accomplished something this weekend. All I've done so far is to create a huge mess. This is turning into one of those projects that can't be fixed, it has to be ripped out and replaced (at least the first two or three rows of tile).

It feels good to be done with that project.

I don't envy your project Michael.

Off to Applebees for dinner to celebrate.

msmenne17 09-02-2012 09:28 PM

I hope you enjoyed SUPPER Jay.

This is one of those project "why the he_l did I even start?" I've now got two complete rows of tile on the front torn off and one complete row down the side wall torn out as well as another 1/2 a row. This doesn't even begin to address the rot in the subfloor that should be taken care of. I'm really tempted to tear the whole tub out and put a fiberglass insert in. It might actually be easier than this.

dlibson 09-02-2012 10:23 PM

There is only one way to handle a leaking bathroom Michael. Start over...

wildstang 09-02-2012 10:38 PM

Good evening MN. Just got back from a friends site. Moon looks good tonight

We just might do that. This is one of those projects that could easily mushroom into an entire remodel.

msmenne17 09-02-2012 11:48 PM

Here's some photos of the demo so far. Tomorrow will determine what we do from here.

Good morning everyone! Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

I am looking on my phone but I can't see your picture Michael. Good luck with the project.

Hope you can rest today Jay now that the kitchen is painted!

Devious Delight 09-03-2012 09:23 AM

Michael, Dave is right on this one. Remove and start over. Hopefully the landlord is paying for it...

Devious Delight 09-03-2012 09:24 AM

Happy Monday all!

HP junkie 09-03-2012 09:44 AM
