First impression of Terra Grapplers
 

Had 275 65 20's installed yesterday afternoon. They replaced the factory Michelin's.

Couldn't decide whether or not I wanted to lift the truck at this time, so I stuck with the factory size. I was told that I could have went with 295 60 20, but I did not want to pay the extra $100 per tire nor risk slinging rocks/mud down the side of the truck. I will make the decision on the lift and oversize tires when the time comes to replace the new Terra Grapplers.

The handling is great, but I have the Bilstein 5100 shocks, not sure how much they factor in to the tire performance. The ride does not seem any stiffer/harsher than it was with the Michelins.

I am surprised at how quiet they are. Don't notice any increased noise over the worn Michelins. Even at highway speeds.

Due to Hurricane Isaac there has been a lot of wind in the Galveston County area, but since I had the new tires installed it appears as though I am paying a .5 MPG penality -- time will tell. I have only put 150 miles on the tires so..........

They look much, much better on the truck than the Michelins.

Good luck with the new rubber.. they are great on road tires, but are about useless in any off road situation. Found that out the hard way with my friends truck... and they were nearly new

Thanks. I can't imagine that they could be as bad as the Michelins in the mud, but will find out soon enough.

I love mine, so far mine's about .5mpg but I'm at 35" with my lift.

From the looks of them I can't see them being over horrible off road but I haven't tried them out yet.

The Terra grapplers are horrible in the snow and mud. I've had them personally. They do decent on the road and will last 30-40,000.

Not a bad choice for an A/T tire.

But you spin your wheels ALOT, I think.:cool:

Being in the Houston area I was more concerned about the noise and wear on an A/T. I have some bayou property that gets sloppy when we have a "gully washer" and the Michelins did an adequate job, but they were spent.

To be honest, there are not a lot of options if someone wants to stick with the factory 20" wheels and isn't ready for a lift. This (so far) seems to be the right decision for me.

Terras do everything I need them to do.
A bit of mud hasn't been an issue.
ContiTracs were overwhelmed on anything other than pavement.

I had them on a different truck. It didn't spin the wheels as much....lol.

Had them on my F-150 When I bought it the rear tires were worn out Goodyears Wranglers That truck was a x cap 5.4 and I swear you had to be in one hell of a mess to need the 4x4 The thing would go places in 2wd better that some 4x4 would

I switched to the Nitto's and they seemed to do good on it. Like I said the rubber they replaced were shot so I did notice an improvement when I put them on. I didn't keep the truck long enough to find out how they were going to wear.

NOW on my F-250 I HATE these stock Michelin 17000 miles rotated every 5K and the things are over 1/2 gone. & I've not done that much heavy towing. Never snowed here the 1st time since I've had this truck so I don't know about these tires in the snow but a little mud or slick grass or even a steep gravel road and I'm turing the 4x4 knob. But I guess with all the torque thats normal.

I will be going with the Nitto's in about 13K more miles I'm really thinking about the trail over the terra Not that I need them but that look so good on these trucks! I could take the terras grapplers and be just happy.

I can tell you from experience that the Michelin's SUCK off road.
Had Nitto's on my Z71 and were great. Found the deal today so I'm buying them tomorrow or Monday.
