My least favorite part about pine needles is when they go down the vents.

Yup drives me absolutely crazy, its one of my pet peeves. Thats the only thing I hate about fall. And doesnt help when its really windy out swept the driveway once already. so many pine needles almost couldnt see the asphalt

You should change the cowl on your model year to the '87 model. It has the small holes instead of the big slits. It is a direct bolt on and it has the same body lines. I changed mine over for just that reason.

Interesting idea, I'd never even thought of that, or paid attention to the later year ones. That'd be worth looking in to.

I only get leaves. So its not my problem lol

This is what I did. I found a cowl from an '87 at the JY for $15. I cleaned it, sanded it, epoxy primed it, undercoated it, and installed it. Some pine needles still find their way into the holes, but not near as much debris gets in there as when the slit cowl was on there.

While I was in there I cleaned, primed, seam sealed, and undercoated everything underneath the cowl too. I have more pictures here;

Wow, that looks sharp. Granted, I kinda like the 'old school' truck look of the slits, but that seems like it'd really help keep junk from getting in there.

:-X22That looks pretty slick. Thats like me with my green intake haha Though i imagine your will stay a bit cleaner than mine. I get water, oil, dirt, and all sorts of crap on it.
With the blue covers it looks a bit odd..

Eventually i want to either replace the covers or repaint them black. But for now it has to remain ugly :)

Dylan, the blue covers make it "unique" not odd, lol.
I cleaned some of the crap out of the driver seat so I can work on the clutch pedal mounting tomorrow. I hope to get it and the clutch master cylinder mounted tomorrow.

GruesomeJeans 10-17-2012 04:03 PM

It is unique but i don't like the way it looks. Don't get me wrong i love the ford blue look but it clashes with the green quite a bit. Maybe if the paint on the covers weren't cracking and chipping off, it might look better.

Yup looks good

1_ton_bronco 10-17-2012 06:27 PM

Brake line needs to be plugged.. and this truck needs to be sold after that

GruesomeJeans 10-17-2012 06:36 PM

The Bronco? Sold so early, i thought you just got it recently.

I moved TGM over about 2 feet so we could get to our garbage can.
