Looked at it sitting broken in my garage wondering if I should fix it or just cut my losses with a tear in my eye

Today

Drove her to work. Marveled at how much better it runs without a leak in the distributor vacuum advance line 0_0

For Christmas I got a headlight relay wire harness. Less heat in the switch and more light on the road. Just gotta get the motivation to install it.

Jimbo , that was one of the easiest installs I did (last month) I too had to make myself get out and do it, but it went quick .Month before that, I installed new headlight housings (old ones yellowed) and was surprised how easy that went. TR

Blazed a trail to work after 15" of overnight snowfall. Snowpocalypse 2016. More snow today and tomorrow forecasted. Bronco gets everyone to work.

I gave her a wash after the trip up to Mount Ord this weekend!

Nice and clean (mostly, the axles are still a little dirty and don't mind the stupid fuel leak on the pavement!)

I just have to save up to get electric fuel now.... I can't stand having drips all over the place due to the leak. At least I believe its fuel leaking, it seems a little to thin and clear to be oil. Used diesel oil always seems to be pretty dark and a little thicker, and I changed all the oil seals when the motor was out!

Installed Mile Marker manual hubs. Fixed ABS while I was in there - tone ring just needed a good scrubbin. Also that pesky rubbing sound is gone. Thinking previous mechanic overtightened wheel bearings. That or the auto hubs were rubbing on something. Have had Bronco for six months now and quite possibly becoming my all time favorite vehicle.

Scored a junkyard rear diff. Popped the cover, and Merry Christmas it's a posi ! :-jammin

I installed the harness last night and drove around the neighborhood. Lights seem to be a bit brighter, and they didn't dim when I was at the stop sign. It was a much easier install than I thought. How did you route yours?

My latest work on my bronco. Replaced radius arm bushings, and installed new front leveling springs. I was a little astonished when I found that one of my brackets was virtually shattered! Had to weld it up for now, but a new unit is in my future. Bronco rides much, much better. Firmer but more comfortable and way more stable. No more clunking noises either!

Good looking rig. Did you keep the sway bar? Also, did you need an alignment with the leveling springs?

mountain dewd 01-16-2017 07:34 AM

Thanks! I kept the sway bar and I needed an alignment plus new offset camber bushings.

mountain dewd 01-16-2017 02:57 PM

I washed waxed and detailed it.

Posting late, but yesterday I bought my Bronco. It is a 1991 Eddie Bauer with the 5.0. Got it for $1900. It is pretty much what you would expect for $1900. Has an oil leak that has apparently been there for quite awhile. Tranny shifts a little hard in 3rd and reverse. And has a screaming serpentine belt.

The PO sprayed the pullies with some kind of spray lube to mask the noise. When I went to look at it he claimed that he sprayed the hinges for the hood and oversprayed into the engine bay (his excuse for being it being sprayed everywhere). Got it home and cleaned the mess of as best as I could, including off the pullies, and belt screamed when I started it up.

Today, in an attempt to quite the belt I cleaned all the gunk and grease off the belt itself, cleaned off all of the pullies and replaced the belt. Was hoping, after doing some reading here, that all of that old gunk and grease was the reason for the loud belt, but no luck. The belt is new/newish. I used the old candle on the belt trick and it quieted down right away.

From what I read here last night, these cheapy parts store belts can be a cause and folks are using a Gates or Gatorback brand belt (think I have those names right. Is it safe to assume that the belt is the issue since it quiet with the candle?

Anyway, heres some pics. Not pretty, but it runs :D
