Ford, Chevy, or Dodge?

I would not give you a plug nickle for any of the newer vehicles. But I prefer the older chevy's due to the parts interchangeabilty & cost of the parts. The Ford trucks before the twin i-beam suspension were great. Now Dodge had a very good engine and drive train , But their electrical system sucked.Never really cared to own any foreign jobbies.

Ford will haul whatever you want.
Chevy is a nice ride, feels cheap and wont hold a load like a ford.
Dodge.... forget it. We have had a couple dodge trucks and both were worthless as trucks.

Fords are built to put up with more abuse then chevies. The only thing chevy has going for it is the 350. Oh and Ford's twin I beam rules, until about 82 when they used ball joints instead of King pins.

Dodges are built cheap, and it shows.

Why do you come to a ford forum, wondering if chevy and dodge measue up ina comparison, when you know out right. that everyone in here is going to say ford rules. So do this, go to a chevy forum, ask them, then go to a dodge forum, ask them, take 100 random answers from each forum, average your answer and the winner is the winner.. This subject has been OVER and OVER on here.

I agree. Also my cheaply built Dodge has held together better than any truck I have owned to this day.

I have a 95 Dakota- 90K and no problems. My new F450 replaced an 85 Chevy 350 with 120K with problems only caused by use and abuse. My new F450 is on its 3rd week in the shopx(

I think only people with a new truck should chime in. I had a couple of 70's ford trucks and hated them. I bought a 93 f150 4x4 and wouldn't sell it to save my life. Yet I had a 74 chevy 4x4 that had less frame rust than my f150 and both were ohio trucks.

I have had good luck with both Ford and Dodge. I think a lot of it has to do with the maint. and use/abuse. I currently have a 2001 dodge 1500. The main reason I bought it over a ford was price. I tried to get ford to match for me put the closest they could get was 2k. I had a 93 ford 150 flairside that I was really happy with. Both of these were 2wd. as far as 4wd I would definately stay with a ford.

I've already said what I wanted to in another thread.

Usibelli Coal mine in Healy Alaska uses Fords mainly. I flat out asked the lead mechanic what lasts up here (extreme harsh driving enviroment). He said Ford. All the rest spend all there life cowering in the shop.

Though I have owned a Dakota and think highly of the first version. And some of the older Rams. Every new truck is not what it could be.

Personaly i think ford is the way to go. Ford has that tough manly look unlike the rest. Besides the looks, the superduty trucks can haul almost anything, you just cant get that from thye others. Now dodge has made a good start at changing its reputation with the bold new look and the impressive hemi. but non the less it looks like one of those on road only trucks and it still looks cheep in many ways. Chevy and GMC are like the exact same truck minus a few body style differences. Chevy, i think used to be a major truck company but have been i na down fall recently. But thats just purly my opinion. GMC hasnt really been omonge the competition and a main contenter. But still all of the trucks have there high points and low points but i still love the look, dependability, and power of the ford superduty trucks and the new 2004 f 150s look tightr and are more powerful than before.

Im a ford truck man!

I have a 93 dodge diesel auto with almost 200k miles and besides brakes I have never put it in the shop for anything. pulled 290hp on the dyno last year and has been turned up for three years. just sent the pump off to be put on a flow bench so I can get a little more HP out of it. We pull our 35' 5er with it. I also have a 94 and 98 diesel 5spd's 4x4. I live in southern Ohio and as far as I can tell this is Dodge country and there is no mistaken that.
