Bio Diesel/Oil Selection
I live in Pennsylvania and all diesel is supposed to have 2% bio in it. Does that mean I should be running the ford oil recommendations for biodiesel?

I was refering to the oil weight. The filler cap read indicates a different weight oil if using Bio. I am not sure using 2% Bio means that I should switch from the 10W-30.

10W-30 (normal usage) 1For severe duty usage, use SAE 5W-40 API CJ-4. 2For biodiesel (grades B6-B20) usage, use SAE 5W-40 or SAE 15W-40 API CJ-4. Looks like that is only for B6 - B20 Bio-diesel If you are using B2 then I say stick with the 10w-30 unless you are in some extreme cold. |
There is no way I would use anything but 5-40 API CJ-4 oil unless I'd live in a southern (hot climate) area where I would go for 15-40 API CJ-4.

I run B-20 in my 6.4 and also run 5w-40 year round. My last UOA was excellent!

Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated
