Transformer oil

Gentlemen, I have approx. 600 gallons of transformer oil stored in 55 gal. Drums. Oil was removed from high voltage generators for various x-ray machines, my business is in x-ray and MRI rigging.

All the oil is in good shape, mostly clear and not contaminated. I think 2 barrels are contaminated with other oils/fluids but certainly not ruined.

I need to find someone who wants it. It burns very well as a 50/50 mix or higher in older diesel engines, I use it in my John Deere but it would take me 20 years to go through 600 gallons.

So, if you're within 250 miles of me and would like the stuff, I would be happy to deliver. You ga folks really should check this stuff
out.

I'm not looking for a lot of money, just a fair price that makes us both benefit.

And of course, I would not want anyone to use it without filtering and drying!

Wish you were in the Southwest. :-X16

Yes I know. I read a bunch of threads here yesterday and figured you would be interested. I've had the stuff for about 4 years and yesterday I decided y'all would put it to good use. I hope somebody wants it.

How much do you want for the oil if I meet you in Knoxville, Tn?

ruschejj 08-12-2012 03:02 PM

How does $1.25/gal sound? That would be roughly $750. As I said above, it's mostly all pure clean oil but I'd say 100 gallons of it would need to be filtered and dried because it has some other fluids mixed in with it.

I don't have a problem meeting you in Knoxville.

Too rich for me. I get most of my oils for free :-X03
I was thinking closer to .50 a gallon :-down

ruschejj 08-12-2012 07:12 PM

It will cost me $200 in fuel to get there and back. At.50 a gal that only gets me $100 for 600 gallons of oil.

Sorry and thanks for asking.

Dude are you really that out of touch with reality....or just plain I don't give a hoot......even USDA will nail your butt for trying to give that stuff away & if USDA ever makes an inspection on your farm/ranch, etc, and finds anything other than "Approved Ag Fuel" being used, kiss your crop sales goodbye!- FYI- you can give/sell up to 10- 1 gallon containers, no more.

If you want to be hostile to people who care about alternative fuels, why hang out here?

Let the guy do what he wants with his oil. He's not telling you you have to put it in your truck; he's just reselling transformer oil.

This is the first time I've ever heard that USDA would care one way or the other. I know the IRS, and your state taxation authority, would probably care, but USDA? I doubt it. Citations, please?

Why would the USDA care about transformer oil? :-roll

Can you back up your facts? :-huh

Ahhh, nice. Look at my post count and reps. I'm not easily scared by punks.

I'm just trying to sell some stuff I've had for a while and don't use. Somebody else could put it to good use.

It is worth more than $100 to me, and also to somebody else.

And dude, your reality is decidedly different than mine.

flainn 08-15-2012 01:30 PM

You've got to love drive-by posts. Guy won't even defend his position.

liverlips 08-15-2012 09:41 PM

You can run this stuff in a tractor? What has to be done to it to make that work?
