A ding in my hood
Last night I was leaving a parking garage, paid at the gate, the arm went up and as I started to move it came back down!
Bang! Right on the crease of the raised part of the hood. What a zing in it now. I had to hold it up so the truck could be driven out. That damn thing has a lot of power! Took a lot to hold it up against the strain of the motor. The parking garage manager filled out some paper work and is going to contact me on how to get it fixed. What a bummer! http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...5860805372.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...6B416242DB.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...DB609DDCC9.jpg |
that sucks...but is it worth getting fixed?
I personally would just pocket any $$$ they pay for repairs. Get a good quote from a body shop and then present that to the parking garage. Call me paranoid, but after having my 08 Expy painted 6 different times, I don't trust anybody for paint/body repairs. That dent ain't pretty, but it is small. |
The ding can be worked out by a good paintless ding removal guy. Take him about an hour tops. Cost is around $80-$150. No need to paint.

PDR never crossed my mind. I will check into it

Find someone who guarantees his work and has exp. with aluminum-which is what the hood is made out of. It's a bit more than a standard ding as it's on a line or ridge but not a overly complicated fix at all though.

I got a letter from the parking garage today in my email accepting liability.
I need to get an estimate and fax it to them, and they'll cut me a check. |

Well I can't tell you what to do, but conventional body repair-paint, etc. is much much more than dentless......

I totally forgot to post back an update.
Dealer estimate was $450 Parking garage paid up with no questions asked. I had the whole front painted, bumper, grill, and hood The hood had been painted previously before I got it, so was the grill. The Ford emblem in the grill was glued on so we had to destroy it to get it off, so thats new too. There was some aluminum corrosion on the front lip that was corrected in the process too. I also had the tow hook covers painted in gloss so they blend in now, and the license plate bracket was removed. Much cleaner look http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...4BC91BDD05.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...BEB45B9594.jpg All back together http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...12F5607250.jpg |
