West Coast Jr. mirrors

I don't know if this is legal here, but I'd hate for someone to miss out on what could be a good deal. I was going to bid on them even though I don't need them. Not sure what they are worth, but no one is bidding on them and the current price is way below their value I believe and I know they're not easy to find.

That is a good price (currently), they're authentic "FoMoCo" and not the cheap knock-offs, i already have two sets though.

I might buy them if nobody here wants them. I thought if I could get them for around $75 that would be a bargain. If they aren't in better shape than mine I could always sell them or keep them unless something happens to one of mine.

I noticed something about west coast jr mirrors. I bought a pair at the junk yard and installed them on my '69 F250. After I finished installing them I noticed they looked a little funny or odd. I compared them to the originals I have on my '70 and sure enough they were different. The west coast mirrors I installed on the '69 were off of a van and have shorter mounting arms. The originals stick out about 4" on the bottom arm and the van ones stick out about 2". The ones in the e-bay add look exactly like the ones I took off of a van. I don't know if the mirrors are truck/van specific but I did notice a difference.

The genuine Ford Western & Western Jr. (aka West Coast) mirror head (C7TZ-17723-A) has three embossed lines. See pics in post #5 for examples.

:-X15 (sigh) Another clueless ebay seller: There are FIVE different types of these Western Jr. "Swing-Lok" mirrors: 1965/66 F100/350 / 1967/72 F100/350 / 1969/74 Econoline / 1973/79 F100/350 & 1978/79 Bronco / 1975/91 Econoline.

The brackets mount differently because the door contours are all different. Only the mirror head is the same (except 1965/66 which has different measurements).

Swing-Lok Jrs: There is a round device located between the arm and the lower bracket. "Swing" the mirror towards you, or "swing" it away. Now "swing" it back into position, it will "lok" in place.

The Western (non Swing-Lok) mirrors usually found on 1967/79 Camper Specials have longer arms and a 3rd steady-rest arm (see 2nd pic in post #5). 1967/72 is different than 1973/79.

Said the Lone Ranger to his horse. Clayton Moore bought a 1970 Econoline E300 302 "Cut-Away" from Beverly Hills Ford, then had a class C motor home body mounted to it.

He soon returned to the dealer, complained it was so gutless, it couldn't pull a sick trollop off a porcelain device.

Off topic....

ND, why is Bob Allen Ford so highly over priced on NOS parts when compared to the rest of the country? it's ridiculous!

When I list this snake, I warn peeps by typing: HIGH BUCK!! BOB ALLEN FORD...

Peeps can ask any 'ol price they want to for obsolete parts. If the part is easily found, Allen won't get their outrageous price until the supply almost dries up.

If the part is only available from Allen, the peep looking for it is gonna be up **** creek without a paddle, has little other choice.

I suspect most peeps that pay their prices are FoMoCo dealers (then marking the outrageous prices up...to their customers!), since Allen is listed not only on PV, but the FoMoCo Dealer Parts Locator System.

Most dealers will not bother looking on PV (unless the part is not found on the dealer locator) and peeps like us, when we call and get the snakes price, say "no way Jose!"

A pal of mine needed a companion flange for his 1963 Falcon ragtop. The last MSRP was $35.00. Only one source had it, guess who?! When I called "Snake" Allen, they wanted $225.00!

Pal bought a user I found for him for 10 bucks.

Sold for $152.50. I guess they didn't go for cheap, but probably still a fair price.

That's pretty much an average ebay price for the Jr's, the westcoast mirrors (non jr's) typically go for $200 ish.

I'm well aware, he was the only dealer to have the glow plug control module for my '83 Perkins diesel Ranger.

They pretty much had me over the proverbial barrel, i was able to talk him down 20% but i still took a hit, but it was a part i wanted and no one else had it but them.

You gotta be kidding! 200 clams? Here in LA LA Land, can be bought from pick-a-part yards for 20 bucks for the pair. The Little Weasel just bought a pair for his Stupor Duper C/S.

How many would'ja like? Long time truck wrecking yard has dozens wired to a long chain link fence. I have no idea what they are, cuz the grease pencil marks on them have faded so badly, one can't read what they came from.
