Still finding things
 

I have been going through my truck for the last 6 months and I am still finding things that I can't identify. Today's find is what looks like a large ignition condenser attached to my e-brake mounting bracket under the dash right next to the ignition switch. The lead coming off of it is not attached to anything.

Anyone know what this might be ? I can't find it on any of my wiring diagrams .

Sounds like some kind of foreign object to me.

Great....now I have UFO's in my truck.

The critter mounts with an ear off of the case, just like a condenser would. The lead comes off the other end, is just long enough to reach the ignition switch, and terminates with a single eye that would just fit over the studs on the back of the switch. It's 1/2" in diameter and 2" or so long.

Might just be a device to take the engine noise out of the radio like they used in the 70's.

Maybe your brakes have noise in them! :D

They use to be mounted on the alternator.

I hadn't thought of a noise supressor. Next time I have the dash open I'm going to remove it and check it for #'s or something to identify it by.
