Yea bullet proofing is all well and good. I fully understand that. The thing is that does not cure the cracked head issue. My machine shop buddy says 90% of the 6.0 heads he sees are cracked. Then the sticking turbo vane situation. Injector issues at auch higher rate than we are used to. For instance a good friend had a low mileage one. Several injector issues he did a whole oe set...and had several cracked nozzles within a month. When these were new we had a never ending parade of egt cooler/head gasket issues, bedate oil leaks... The list goes on and on. I am not arguing as we are all friends . The facts don't lie.

Phil we are on the same side of this fence.

6.5 Chevy diesels are equal on reliability. Crap!

Yeah, but there are also facts that point the other direction as well. Again, to each his own and agree to disagree. I'd have one if I was looking for a newer truck as long as I had the money to delete/improve/bulletproof. I'd have no issue whatsoever.

Now the 6.5...that was my first diesel in 1998. What. A. DOG!!! Reliable, but NO power whatsoever. Very comfortable truck though. It was a 3500 CC Dually. Bought it with 10k on it and it was like new.

If you catch a 6.0 early and fix it before it starts going downhill, youll never have problems with it. Once the EGR goes out, it starts taking out everything: injectors, oil cooler, turbo, and lastly head gaskets which will crack a head.

Im not saying this is true, but the reason your machine shop buddy says 90% of the heads he sees are cracked is probably because 90% of the heads he gets comes off a 6.0l with blown head gaskets. If it aint broke, don't fix it. Why tear down a good running engine to send the heads off to be checked.

Ill never say my 6.0 is a pile of junk with neverending costly issues. You can just as easily find a pile of junk 7.3 and spend an arm and leg getting it to run right

One thing I will agree on is you wont see me putting go fast parts on my 6.0 while its stock. On the other hand, Iv already chipped my mostly stock 7.3

Idk Aaron, for me as long as the doorknob isn't too big what it looks like isnt important :-X04.

We went and got mom's Christmas tree and a few trees for elderly neighbors today. The White Whale was a beast. I only stopped because the trailer behind my buddy's jeep was starting to sink him. Silly jeeps...
