factory helper springs?
Was there an option of a helper spring from the factory? My rear has a set of helper springs on it which I just assumed where added later but is weird is there are factory brackets that look like stops for the helper springs.

My 1946 has the same set-up. My dad thought it was something my grandfather put on, but since it looks the same, maybe it is a factory set-up.

btw, I'm not going to put the "overloads" back on, but am putting the standard leaf springs back on.

I took mine off too as I am lowering the truck. When I removed the stop brackets I saw a factory looking stamping with numbers which made me believe it was something factory.

I have the same springs on my 53.

Sure those aren't the 1T spring setup?

Could be..... My grandfather worked this truck hard back in the 50's. :-X04

My '49 F1 has the same set up. What's the1T set up Ax? Will it make a differance on the stance if I take them off? Thanks Randy

Thanks AX! Knew it would be something simple, I was trying to make it hard! Randy

Its weird as multiple 1/2 ton guys are saying they have the same setup. Maybe I should post the part number stamped on it and see if we can find it in a catalog? Would like to know if someone could use them as I dont need them.

My 51 Panel has the helper springs, but my 52 didn't. I searched for a set and found them on a 49 F1. The stop brackets on the 49 were a different design than on my 52. The 52s are just like on your truck.
I wouldn't mind having a spare set of helper springs, but shipping would probably be the killer. |
I have them on my '54, but it looks like angle iron for stops. Dennis
