Camping GTG

OK, so the April 28th & 29th camping GTG is coming up fast. :-jammin Hope everyone has their sleds gassed up and ready. lol

I was wondering if we have a head count and meal schedule (excluding Tom & Sandy of course)? Bummer cause thats some good eats. Anyway since a few of us folks don't have FB and are not in the loop. I thought I would start this thread and see what we need planned.

:-bigparty

fordpower88 04-16-2012 08:39 AM

We will be there!! I am not sure what is planned for food. You will have to contact my wife for that info. LOL

msmenne17 04-16-2012 10:00 AM

We won't be there. Alexandra has regional Science Fair that weekend.

DieselCamper01 04-16-2012 10:49 AM

We will be there but I don't know how easy meals will be to plan. Some have said if the weather is crap they are not going.

fordpower88 04-16-2012 10:51 AM

Who said that Jay? They must not be real campers if they are letting a weather keeping them from going! :D

dlibson 04-16-2012 11:18 AM

Meeeeeeee! If its nothing but sit in camper weather screw it. But, I will likely be there anways.

HP junkie 04-16-2012 11:34 AM

:'(:'(:'( Oh poor Dave! You better make it or you won't ever live that down!!!

HP junkie 04-16-2012 02:29 PM

I think that will do it. hehe

fordpower88 04-16-2012 03:40 PM

It better because I would hate to think that we will have to plan these camping gtg's around only perfect weather!

HP junkie 04-16-2012 06:27 PM

Yea, we would never get to camp if we went by Dave's way.

dlibson 04-16-2012 06:52 PM

Oh, I'll be there don't worry! LOL

fordpower88 04-16-2012 08:22 PM

Thought you might come around Dave! LOL

Racer5349 04-17-2012 09:18 AM

Got more info on the location, or is it a secret? Doubt I'll be ready by then, but you never know.

fordpower88 04-17-2012 09:29 AM

It is in Monticello at River Terrace campground. Hope you can make it! This is a no kids weekend so it should be interesting! Time to let loose.

I'll check it out. I assume ( I Know, I know) most weekends are full of kids since most here seem to have them. Are there other 'no kid' weekends too? I am NOT a good role model for children. I've already ruined mine.

I am not sure on other weekends as of now but don't let that stop you from coming! We aren't all the best role models either especially after the kids are in bed! }>

HP junkie 04-17-2012 12:16 PM

Yep, you got that right. We manage to have a good time either way and the cops have only shown up once, but I was not there. LOL

Racer5349 04-18-2012 06:14 AM

Guess I should have looked closer at the calendar. Got something this weekend I could skip and something next weekend I am already commited to. I had the weekends switched in my head. DOH! Maybe next time.

fordpower88 04-18-2012 07:33 AM

Thats too bad Jim. There will be more for sure!

I was a little disappointed when I realized the dates don't work for me, but I'll keep my eyes open for the next one for sure. :-X22

HP junkie 04-18-2012 05:21 PM

That should give you time to get the beast up and running 100% too.

Except it seems endless, but it's not too bad. Did the coolant tonight and flushed the anti-freeze out of the water system. Filled the fresh water. Couple of other small things to do. And my generator. I'm saving that treat for last. :)

I did take it for a 10 mile test drive tonight. Last fall, as I was braking from 55 mph to turn into my driveway, I experienced what I think is the death wobble I've heard about in the SD. I crapped my pants, so needless to say I had BOTH hands on the wheel tonight. Hope it was a one time deal related to road condition/braking force/weight distribution/speed. Guess time will tell. :-huh

HP junkie 04-19-2012 05:28 AM

Sounds like you have your to list pretty full. Have you ever tried blowing out your water lines? I used to do the antifreeze and some of the guys on here talked me into using air instead. Works great IMO. Good luck!

I'm paranoid. I do both.

DieselCamper01 04-19-2012 08:47 AM

I gave up on the antifreeze.

(this one is for Cory, Mike, Troy, Dave) You just need to give it a good blow job and all will be good. Just anti freeze in the drains.

Then it does not take forever to get the nasty taste out of the lines each spring.

That is funny stuff Jay! LOL

Yep I only blow the lines out as well and just dump some antifreeze down the drains. Not looking forward to this new camper as they left the antifreeze in there cause they were worried it was gonna be too cold and freeze on me so now I have to flush all the lines which is no big deal but I am sure I will have that nasty taste in the lines for a while.

What the.......... why for me????

LOL!!

I will be flushing the lines in the camper today, PO has antifreeze in them. I used air on the last camper and it seemed to work good, don't know for sure since we sold it before winter ended.

dlibson 04-20-2012 06:29 AM

I've never put antifreeze in the lines. Ever. Always given them a "blow job"! LOL

Up until this year I have always pulled traps too, and not anti-freezed the drains. But with this camper I did anti-freeze the drains...

dlibson 04-20-2012 06:30 AM

Oh, and one week till camping!!!!

DieselCamper01 04-20-2012 10:43 AM

I cannot even get to the tub trap so I would always need to use antifreeze on that one. Pulling the trap is an interesting concept. A gallon of antifreeze sounds easier though.

fordpower88 04-20-2012 10:55 AM

I am with you Jay. I would probably end up breaking a trap. LOL I will just pay the couple bucks for the antifreeze and pour it down there so I don't break anything trying to take it apart. :D

92 Nomad fifth wheel 20'

this doesnt seem like too bad of a deal... I wonder how big of a trailer i could pull behind it for wheeling. you guys seem to know some RV stuff any opinions? im leaning into a 5th wheel instead of a pickup camper now

dlibson 04-20-2012 11:30 PM

That looks like a fair deal for sure. You can be 70' total in length, so you could get a decent trailer back there...

Skill_Kills 04-20-2012 11:35 PM

im just wondering about the weight it'll handle. I have a 20ft enclosed with a 3ft V front. 7k gvw on the trailer

dlibson 04-20-2012 11:37 PM

Well if you did the frame right, maybe.

But that would be borderline...

Skill_Kills 04-20-2012 11:40 PM

eh ill think about it i guess. I have a bunch of things to do on the truck now and a jeep to build up before i spend much more on RV stuff. maybe if i go to sleep i can fix my truck in a dream tonight =)

dlibson 04-20-2012 11:44 PM

Now that's the way to fix it!!!

Oh, and camping beats all, especially with this group. So, um, DO IT!!!! LOL

DieselCamper01 04-21-2012 07:26 AM

Screw the work Brian. Go camping! LOL
