different injector question with IR temp gun

At one time I thought it was dark smoke, but have realized lately that its more whitish gray and stinks like fuel only at idle. I have no oil consumption. No codes. Idle is a little choppy but it runs and cranks fine.

I suspect that maybe I have an injector or two dribbling fuel all the time. My question is would I expect to have warmer temps on that cylinder or colder temps when shooting with a temp gun. I think higher but not sure so I thought I would get your opinions. I did shoot it after driving it and had two warmer than the ones around it and the ones I could get to on the passenger side. I plan to compare it to my good truck tomorrow but thought I would see how y'all saw it.

I tried these but wasn't useful.

It seem that Fan blow air will mess up IR temp gun's laser.

Temp would be vary from 170-270oF depend how far or closer you are.

I am still having issue with mine too. It seem only way to fix is guess which bad injectors. Worst part they pass tests no error. +

i am having the same issue. no codes. slight miss. i replaced a solenoid on the suspected injector (#1). i also did the 50 cent mod on the valve cover harness (both sides). it went away for a while, then came back. i am thinking that i have either a bad injector, solenoid and or bad valve cover harness- or all three. i hope to find out in a few days at the "tech day" here in my region.

when i say slight miss, i mean sometimes it'll do it, sometimes it runs fine

i'll let you know after the 14th

i would say that if your leaking, you would have higher than normal temps. unlike a gas motor that would actually run cooler under a rich condition.
i was discussing my issue with another diesel mech, i might start removing my injectors for inspection, could also be injector o rings. now im just tossing around ideas. wont know for sure till i get in there and start looking.
