Radiator removal tool help needed
 

OK, after flushing with cleaner, my radiator is leaking at the top plastic cap junction, one thing after another. A shop here offered me to Re-clip it??

Anyway, I think I will order an Aluminun Rad from Bulletproof. From what I have read, I need a tool to remove the lower lines?

I have read a few post on the lower line tools, some show a $4.95 tool, other $40.00, some say they just unscrew from the rad?

How do you remove these lines? Is there Transmission fluid in it, if so, does it drain the trans fluid?

Which line? The lines from the trans filter just thread out normally. It should take a 19mm wrench. The radiator hoses you just undo the clamp and pull them off.

Yes looks like the transmission lines. I have a 2006 and apparantly I need a special tiny tool? Which one??

Some say you have to be carefull not to drop the cooler inside??

Haven't dealt with them on an 06 although I can look at the company's 06 when I'm home this weekend. It takes a 19mm wrench on the 04 I just finished up.

if ur removing the transmission filter, then it's a 22mm socket. most suggest to use an impact wrench wif tat 22mm socket to get it out.

hmm......probably tranny cooler lines....tats probably wat u need to come off.

Yes they are the trany lines to the the radiator. It is not a nut, apparantly you just use a special tool to push the quick connector in and the lines comes off.

The problem is that there is all sort of tool on the market and from what I have read, not all tool will fit the 6.0 Rad.

:-X15 OK, I took a closer look, on the other side of the trany line fitting on the cooler.

The fitting is just clamped on the line on a half moon type of fitting, it clamps on the radiatior trany line inlet nut, looks VERY easy to undo, just pull the fitting out and the line should come out, unless there is something I do not get. I did not receive the cooler yet, so I will wait until I am ready to do it.

IIRC it's like a fuel line disconnect tool but it's 1/2" or 5/8. You may check your local parts store for faster/cheaper alternatives.

It looks like the trany line is just inserted in the rad fitting and it is locked in by the plastic half moon type locking fitting. I do not thing I need any tool, I see the line where it gets in the rad.

What are you planning on doing with your old radiator? If don't care about what happens to your old rad, you can remove the fittings with a wrench and cut the fittings off the lines.

If you want to remove them the proper way, you'll need the quick release tool you speak of. The first of the two links you posted above, is the correct tool you'll need. The white "half-moons" you speak of, are just safety guards to prevent the lines from backing out accidentally.

Thanks Mike, yes the rad will be junked, so I will do like you said, unscrew and cut. I read from another post NOT to unscrew from the new RAD, you can loose the inside rad!!

Now I have a problem, It cost $267 just in shipping to Canada for the bullet proof cooler, so 600+ for a cooler is out of my budget. The dealer wants $499 for OEM and I have a price here for a Jobber, 350 plus 100 installation. The jobber is 2 years warranty, it is plactic top and bottom too.

I cannot really wait, it drips quite a bit. I will unscrew the cap while waiting for decision so not too much pressure is applied.
