Way pro job amigo, Sombrero's off, and deep bow to you. I had no bed liner available to me, here in Baja, when doing my truck, so I used a local product, called "Chapapote", which is a drying tar like substance, like an undercoating of old, but a rust stopper for some years to come. It is petroleum based, so will come off with gasoline, or strong thinners, abet, some serious scrubbing.. I used QR's hood system, and DM's in the doors. Much quieter now. No need for me to go to the gym any more, I just go out and open the hood 20 reps, for exercise..

Loving your build amigo...

Had some time to coat the frame with POR15. I considered spraying the frame, but ended up simply using a paint brush. I am glad I did. The paint brush allowed me to get into places I would't have been able to with the paint gun and the finish turned out just fine. I am happy with the results.

I am going to be ready to put that cab on it's new home soon. Once the cab is on, I will be able to start hooking things up and this truck will really start to come together.

I cannot wait to see that cab in the sunlight:-X06 Super clean job with the "carpet" haha

JEFFFAFA 06-19-2016 01:50 AM

Good work and good job.:-X22 I for one am looking forward to seeing this color together and in the sun. Ever since I was knee high to a grasshopper I've dreamt of building a 34 Ford Coupe. Fat fendered. Lowered and raked. And painting it Candy Dark Black Cherry.

That fan must take 25 hp to turn... but it will move a hurricane force wind. You might think about nick naming you truck "Cat 4", in reference to the wind under the hood.... better tie everything down extra secure..

POR 15 is great stuff, are you going to use the UV Coat on it?

bajafishnut 06-19-2016 01:32 PM

It looks way great amigo. Kind of wish I had heard of Por 15 when I was bringing stuff South for my build. Like you, I had the cab off, and that was the time for the frame coating, for sure. How chip resistant is Por 15? The stuff I used, is pretty soft, and pliable, even after 4 years, and I have noticed that gravel just sticks into it, and I have very little, if any chipping. It is more rubberized, kind of like bed liner, but a bit softer.. when it dries, and not quite as tough..

Other than hot dip galvanized, what permanent, for ever, coating is there?? Rust never sleeps... ever.. and rust near the ocean, is tenacious.

I read through this entire build over the last couple of days. You are doing an incredible job. Keep it up

Time will tell if the POR 15 is awesome or not  No UV protection stuff for me. The POR 15 seemed like it was good enough on its own. I have to stop the obsession for perfection somewhere :-X03

I went ahead and put the cab back on the frame :-X10

Now, that's the way to do it right. I believe that they have named some high end pistols, and icecream bars after your truck... Magnum... Is that cherry chocolate, or chocolate cherry?? Either way, it is definitely flavor of the month...

really looking good, way to go sir... I think baja hit it on the head with the chocolate cherry....

May abundant superlatives be heaped upon you amigo. And, may the fleas of a thousand camels infest the beds of your critics. Its the best and worst I can think of..

Photobucket Sucks

Well, Photobucket officially sucks. They want me to pay $400 a year to keep my pictures up on this thread. Pretty dumb since I have been doing everyone a favor by posting the information here and am not profiting from it in any way. I am not sure that this thread will be able to recover from this.

Maybe I should document the build over on Youtube where I could get paid to document this build. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. :-banghead
