Torn at how big to stroke the 351W...?

I am not sure how big i want to take the 351W i have in my 95' lightning. I am not a guru in the pros and cons of these motors. Any suggestions? I hear 408 is prob the best medium as it provides some more stability and longevity vs a 427 but is this true? Any input would be great.

My goal is to put 450hp-550hp to the tires. Tq will come with the build no matter what. Right now i am pretty sure it is all stock on internals. Just bolts ons like headers, intake, i do not think it uses stop ECU but the previous owner has given me no input on what is under the hood, he says e never touched the motor. Which i cannot say he did or not but it has alot of pep in it's step for just bolt ons it seems like. Speed limiter is still set to 95 so i am pretty sure it is stock.

Some discussion here:

351W Stroker; 393 vs 408 | Mustang Forums at StangNet

393 is cheaper, using stock rods and 302 pistons.

A 427 can be done with a stock block but the stronger set up is an aftermarket block. Lot$ o'dollars...

Your goal of 450-550 hp at the rear wheels would be easier to get if you start with a 460 based engine.

It' always easier to go with a 460 but i want to keep the smaller block. 460 block and all its goodies adds ALOT of weight.
