Battery Tray
Can anyone ID this battery tray for me? It is in my 1960 F100 4x4 w/292. It doesnt look like the picture in LMCs catalog. Also doesnt look like the one on pg. 676 of the 1960 Ford Truck parts catalog. I actually have the catalog, but have come to the realization that I am not smart enough to use it correctly.:-huh
I am trying to find one NOS or reproduction. Thanks in advance! |
There are some bright folks here but they will prolly need a pic to do the I.D.!;)

Could of swore I put a pic up. I can see how it would be hard to ID w/o one.

It is just like the one that I have in my 1960 F100 223 two wheel drive. The bottom tray is just like those used in '59's. In fact, I had to use a tray out of a '59 and combine it with the brackets from the '60 to get what I have. Is yours rotted thru? A little sandblasting, a little welding and a little paint can make a big difference. It would look better than any repro part you find. I don't know about NOS but things do appear on the horizon from time to time that surprise us all.
|
Sandblasting, etc... is my second choice, I know hopes of finding a NOS one are slim, but it never hurts to ask. Thanks!

That is an original 57-60 battery tray. I don't know anyone who sells an exact replacement. Sometime they pop up on ebay.
|
I see you even have the clamp to hold the battery in. They often dissappear. NAPA sells a battery under thier commercial line that fits that battery box exactly, allowing you to use the original clamp as opposed to making a new hold down. I don't have the part number handy but I got mine by tracking down the demensions of the battery I needed and matching them up with a "group", size and going to my NAPA guy and he got what I wanted. It dosen't say "Ford', on the side of it but it looks decent.

The clamp is what I like about this tray, I actually bought the correct battery w/the FORD script on it form Antique Auto Battery. Very costly, but I like it alot.

By the way, was just looking at your website. Very cool stuff. I could have used your equipment when I was first putting in my garden plot! LOL! |

Thanks! |

If y'all had the 1957/63 FORD TRUCK PARTS CATALOG (available on a CD from hipoparts.com), y'all wouldn't make these mistakes. And do not assume the pic in LMC's catalog represents a certain tray, because, many times, LMC has no friggen clue (and has no Ford parts catalogs either!). 1957/58 F100/600: B7C-10732-C .. Thanks Bill.

There is no such thing as a 1957/60 battery tray / 1957/58: There are two different trays, determined by the length of the battery / 1959/60 is not the same as 1957/58.

Thanks for the accurate information Bill. I had two Cabs, one was a 59 and one was a 60, they both had the same tray as pictured. I extrapolated to 57 and should not have. Irregardless, the answer is the same no one makes a exact copy.
I would try to fix the one you have. Or you may try some place like Desert Valley Auto Parts Home » DVAP They are not cheap but usually have some good hard to find pieces. |
