My mpg

I have a 16 F250 6.2l super cab with 4:30 axle. I average 12-13 mpg unloaded on rolling terrain with slight grade up and down. Over the course of an average work week, it drops to anywhere between 10-12. I get 8mpg when towing my 12,000 pound 5ver.

Update, picked up a 24 foot travel trailer for a friend today. Trailer weight was close to 6k. Doing 65-70 most of the way I got 11 mpg. I'm happy with those numbers. And obviously she performed well. I didn't know the TT was back there most of the times besides the road grade changes.

On mine I get 12mpg empty and 6 mpg pulling anything over 2k

i live in them yes however as a hotshot hauler who put 135,000 miles on my truck between feb and july 2016 I was all over the USA, I'm a broker now so rarely haul with it but those are the numbers used in real world working condition hauling loads from 2500 lbs to 18,000 lbs

Yesterday, something interesting happened at work. We've had a Kubota excavator parked out back for the winter by one of our renters. Its a KX057, not the biggest, but not the smallest. It weighs about 12k lbs, and came on a Kaufman pintle hitch deckover dovetail with tandem duals. I'd say its a 30k GVWR trailer. The excavator and trailer came in pulled by a late-model RAM 5500 Cummins Crew Cab with a flat bed, and both the trailer and excavator were left for the winter. I noticed they also left a second, wider bucket and a flail mower attachment strapped to the front of the trailer as well.

Well, yesterday I was surprised to see a 2017 Super Duty come rolling in. I'm the only one at work who has one. It was a 350 SRW extended cab long bed gas 6.2L 4x4, and pulled up near the excavator. I figured it was the owner just checking on it. He started it up and then hopped back in the truck. Lo and behold, he backs up to the big Kaufman trailer and hooks up. 30 minutes later he has the excavator all chained down and drives away.

I guess I was pretty surprised, considering the load. I'm guessing at least 7.5k weight for the trailer without a load, then add another 12k or so for the Kubota, and maybe another 1000 for the attachments. So an easy 20,000lbs on a truck rated to tow 15k conventionally. He did have the machine parked way back on the trailer, and the 350 didn't seem to squat too much. You could hear the engine working pretty hard as he pulled on to the highway and worked to get up to speed, but it seemed to do the job fine. Just hope he didn't see a trooper or anyone else that recognized the weight involved...

If he is like most farmers or constuction guys.. they dont give a crap about MPG's.. lol just jump in, fire it up and mash the throttle. I have been passed on the highway by so many company vans that I know are loaded down with tools and such and they blow past me.. They just want to get A to B.

I know I went off-thread a little. I was just impressed with the 6.2L's ability to haul this load. The actual weight was well over what any SRW truck is rated to haul conventionally.

I doubt he cared about mpg...left the truck idling the whole time it took him to chain everything down.

I was just joshing. Heck, I don't care a lick about MPGs anymore. Life's too short. Good for the fella and his 6.2.

that is low, you must have bad driving habits for mpgs. I get 14-16 empty and 9 towing. And if it's all 55-60 mph roads I get around 16.5-17

My 2011 F250 is probably the least used truck on this forum. Bought it at 96000 miles three years ago and have 105000 on it, now. I got 16 on the way back from the purchase, and have never come close to that, again. The most I tow are trailer loads of topsoil or a load of crossties. This truck is babied compared to everyone else's. Mileage is of no concern to me, with this truck.
Every time I fill the tank up, the mileage is around 12 at reset. Good enough!

5 star tuned in performance or perf/tow, usually 87 octane, I average 11ish around town and 13-14 on the highway of I stay under 73. Lots of red lights and stop and go in town kills the mpg. I noticed about a 1.0-1.5 mpg drop when going to the 285/70/18 Falken Wildpeak AT3w tires, which are much heavier and a little bigger than stock contis.

I don't really care about mileage, though. I tow but not heavy (only a 6k camper and a 3.5k boat) occasionally. As far as those who don't drive far or often, I am one of them. I bought the truck new in 2012 and have just under 33k on it.

Most of my miles come from short drives (about 5 miles each way to work) every day and the engine only gets warmed up for about the last mile or so, so it's a struggle to get decent gas mileage. I usually average around 10.5 to 11 depending on how I drive. When I'm not loaded and have to take longer freeway trips I can usually easily see in the 14-16 range. I can't complain about that since my 2006 Honda Odyssey only gets around 20mpg.

2015 f350 4 by 4 crew long box. Currently at 10K KM (6kmiles) Just did a trip to visit mother 2000KM. Combination of flat land and rocky mountain driving. Speed between 110 km and 125 km. regular gas. Gauge read between 14 l/100km and 16 l/100km. I averaged 19 mpg best guess. NO LOAD.

Air intake & other parts

Does anybody on here have an air intake, a programmer, or any other aftermarket parts that could better that MPG?

I have been shopping around some 2017 extended cabs with the 6.2L. I really would like that average to be more 17 to 18-ish
