The feedback from this thread comes from people all over the country, all with 6.2L engines, but various cab configurations and some with 3.73's and some with 4:30's. Most seem to be 4x4. From what I've read it seems the range varies between 9-16mpg for basically unloaded driving, city and highway. There might be a few outliers of very high or very low mpg, but I think overall from reading this you should be getting about 10mpg city and maybe 15mpg highway.
If I get one of these trucks, I'm getting a F250, RC, 4WD, with 4.30's I think. If I could manage 16 mpg unloaded on the highway that would be great. Another thing to factor in for diesel fuel cost, is the cost of additive, and/or 2 stroke oil. Some of the older Cummins guys run 1 oz per gallon of 2 stroke oil to compensate for the ULSD fuel that is all we can get now. |

For the unbelievers. Ran down to Denver today for the RV show. Filled up at the Vandehei loaf and jug like I always do at the same pump. Started the truck and reset the trip meter and the fuel mileage before pulling away. When I got on the interstate I showed 8 mpg. When I went by the port of entry I was at 15 mpg. Down around Longmont I hit 19.8. Here are my gauges around wellington on my way back and then at home in Cheyenne.

That's great!
I imagine most if your trip was in nice flat roads?... Did you drive the entire 200 miles under 65mph? I believe I could get the same in my truck however I am typically driving 65-70mph and I don't have a lot of flat roads where I am. This brings the avg down to 16mpg in my truck |
unyalli- That is amazing. I have the same setup but a 13'. There's hope for me yet. Best I've seen it was 17.3 after 50 miles at 60mph. Good post.:-X22

How fast were you going though? That stretch of I-25 along the front range is a crappy drive until it hits 3 lanes. I'd hate to be that guy doing 10 under there (looks like in one of the pics you were doing 65 mph). mpg estimates for real world highway speeds might be better. What does it get at 70 and 80 mph?
I'm in WY too by the way. I'm actually in Cheyenne right now, but I don't live here. |

Man, I just have a really, really hard time believing that, with the altitudes you are talking about! Your total odometer in the pics shows you only went 64 miles or so. Granted, your speeds were a little down which helps, but if I travel 35 miles on a relatively flat section from my house (a known good gas mileage route), I can only get maybe 17mpg in the summer with the hubs unlocked. And that is with speeds never exceeding 55mph and a very light throttle. I see the pics, its just knowing what I get personally that makes it hard to believe. I put on 100 miles last Saturday night, hubs locked, mostly 55mph, not too hilly, and achieved 15.3mpg...which is pretty good.

I bought my 2014 2wd cc lb 3.73 in January. Just hit 5000 miles and I get about 13.5 mpg with mostly city driving. I don't have a heavy foot but I wouldn't say I baby it either.

My truck has 11k+ miles on it now; it is broken in. I too, would love to see that kind of gas mileage. Last 2 fillups have both averaged just under 10mpg.
