I have that knowing smile along with you.
My kids are all learning how their actions affect their lives.
Guess that's what we do in our twenties.

The LA news said 204, but then corrected to 206. Which is it?:-wink

I guess there oughta be a spare or two on the rig, right? I'd like to see the bottle jack used to change a trailer tire under load.

New York Times says 196:
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/08/ar...pagewanted=all

L.A. Daily News and Pasadena Star-News both say 200:
340-ton rock for art exhibit to move through Diamond Bar, Rowland Heights and La Mirada this week - Pasadena Star-News

ABC-7 says 200:
340-ton Riverside boulder on its way to LACMA for exhibit | abc7.com

I dunno.......

Maybe Bill will count them when he goes to look at it :D

Jetcopterpilot 02-28-2012 09:11 PM

Watched an interview tonight with the guy who loads and operates this giant trailer, onthe news tonight.. He said that it had just under 200 wheels, so my guess is that the 196 is most likely the accurate number...

Happy Leap Day fellers. :-wink
If today is your birthday, well, that must suck.

Hey Gail, how is Jack doing?

bryyce62 02-29-2012 09:28 AM

Hey Bill,
Jack is good. Real good. I'd say close to 100%. We're still finishing off a couple of the meds that he was put on, but our routine with him is back to normal.
Now the bill for all that....that may take a month or two to absorb. Just short of $3K was the charge.

bpounds 02-29-2012 09:50 AM

Happy to hear that he is feeling well. It's only money.

For those following Levitated Mass:
Here is a better Google map of the route.

And here is a daily schedule of the daytime parking locations.

Palo Verde & South...a little over a mile away. Maybe I'll go count the tires. :-X0A6 Might be easier when it's parked, though.

La Mirada and Leffingwell for us. I thought that corner had been demolished and cleared, but I was mistaking it for another corner. There doesn't seem to be enough off street parking for something like that. But Leffingwell is wide there with a center turn lane, so I'm thinking they will just park it on the street. That won't be so great for viewing.

SteveBricks 02-29-2012 10:31 AM

I can't believe they're going to park that thing on Atlantic Ave in Bixby Knolls. Not a very wide street.

Hope nobody steals it :D

Nighteyez 02-29-2012 11:58 AM

La Mirada and Leffingwell. Man that brings back memories. I grew up less than 2 miles from there. 13627 Leffingwell Rd. I used that Google map link to check out the old homestead. Can't really see the house very well (it sits on the back of the property) because someone planted a tree in front after I left (I haven't lived there in 35 years! LOL) Even the fence is different, when I lived there it was a wooden three rail fence. Now everything is chain link, and there is even a gate for the driveway. The neighbors houses all look spruced up too. It blows me away how much it has changed.

There's a couple of videos on YouTube that drive around this whole rigging.

While watching them, one could count the number of tires if so inclined.

There are three tractors as well, and that would add 30 tires by themselves.

See:

Here's Part 2:

I count 206, the three tractors included.
