I wonder how the F-16's were able to slow down enough to stay with the 182?

They made a lot of circles :D...came right over the house a couple of times

Nighteyez 02-16-2012 08:00 PM

I bet that 182 pilot didn't have dry pants when he landed!:-X03

Jim

'specially with 40 lbs of dope in the back. Speakin' of dopes.

Huh, did someone call for me?

I see kids have a 4 day weekend - should have planned that better.

Off to "meet me in St..." again this weekend.

Does anyone know the universal signal for a pilot to acknowledged an authority in the air if radios fail?

For example, how the 182 pilot would tell the F16s "I see you, and will follow your commands."

SteveBricks 02-17-2012 07:52 AM

No idea. Wiggle the wings, I would guess. Although I don't know how the pilot could hear any commands without a radio, I'd imagine when they pull up alongside you and point to the ground you've got a pretty good idea of what they want you to do :D

Well first, if you've lost your radios, you should be squawking 7600.

I reckon this clueless guy just left it on 1200.

You rock the wings side to side.

And if you are in a helicopter? You use the more traditional thumbs up signal:-X03

I would hate to be in the air and lose my radios. How would you communicate with the tower for landing permission? Rock your wings, and pray everyone gets out of your way?

Squawk 7600 as Pop said. The tower will get the idea and clear the air space.

bpounds 02-17-2012 11:57 AM

Okay, I had no idea what squawk 7600 meant. I'm sure I was the only one, but just in case:

Interesting, having flown numerous hours in MS Flight Simulator I knew what squawk codes were, but did not know that 7500 meant hijacking, or 7600 meant lost communication until this thread. It is amazing what you can learn on a truck site.;)

Yep. You can often discover whether it is currently a good morning. }>

I booked a pig hunt for April. :-X22
