Most Aggressive sounding muffler for 5.4?
I have a 3" flowmaster 44 with no cat on my truck right now that exits right before the rear tire and i really dont like it it sounds like all my friends jeeps its very low and droney it just kind of sounds like a big exhaust leak. So i am thinking of buying a 4" tailpipe off and a 5" tip off of summit i want to get a new muffler to but i dont know what muffler I should get any suggestions?

Flowmaster's are straight trash! If you want her loud id go with a 3" glasspack, i had a Pro-Chamber glass pack and my 5.4 sounded SICK! But i grew up and got tired of all that noise and i now have a single exit Borla exhaust....

Look up the flowmaster super 10. Supposed to be loud as ****.

Just don't go magnaflow. Way too quiet. Ford for some reason is quieter than its competitors even with the same muffler. I have a 50 series flowmaster and it sounds like a low growl. I wouldn't mind it a tad louder but I would never put a glasspack on anything i cared about.

AGGRESSIVE... hum. If we were talking about dogs, what would indicate that the dog was "aggressive"... The dog's "Bark" or the dog's "Bit?"

Loud isn't always good, but that is all in the ear of the owner. Tone is much more important. Flowmaster 40s and Super 10s are too raspy, in my opinion.

While there are mufflers that will out flow a glass pack design, it also depends on the design. Does the glasspack use "louvers or perforations" - Louvers reduce the flow by as much as 50% but Allied resonators (that sell for $30-$40 each and available at any muffler shop) in independent test flowed 90%+ of a "race spec muffler". Others using other brands consistently showed similar results. The CATS absorb about 60-70% of the sound........IMHO, I would go to a local muffler shop & have them drop the muffler...listen to it, it may be to your liking....if it needs the tone changed, then have them hold up different mufflers until you find "your sound". I am running 2- 3" diameter, 24" long Allied resonators on mine.....they are very deep toned, nice rumble on accel/decel and little to no drone (depends if the weather is raining, then there is some, but very small- not enough to be an irritant). I (and my family) have used these on just about everything since the 60's and have never had one "fail" or loose it's sound, etc. |

Personally, I like this setup best for the 5.4L engine. If you want it louder, just reduce the length of the mufflers. What I really like is the sound especially at high RPM's... there is no rasp in the exhaust note.

I used to have a slp lm1 resonater after the stock cat and then i made a exhaust from the y pipe back with a 3" pipe no cat and a poopmaster 40 exiting before the back tire and it sounds like s**t. I am going to order a 4" dynomax tailpipe tonight and a 4 1/2" tip then for the muffler i am going to put the slp lm1 back on and get a high flow cat. I think it should sounds pretty good like that it did sound good with the slp before so with a high flow cat and a 4" tailpipe it should sounds nice.

Look to a Race Bullet. Only a couple of Db's below open header. Loud.
