3G alternator $20
Thunderbird fan $20

nice upgrades and one heck of a deal midnight!:-X22
i have a feeling, your going to think that's the the best $40 you ever spent right there.
a '95 gas engine didn't already have the 3g though? (i know the diesels got them mid yr of '92 with the serp belt changeover at the same time.)
looks like you scored the 130A version too.not just the 95A by seeing the double holes in the ribs rather than 4 small ones.not that it makes much difference really, either would suit a f150 w/e-fan just fine (i would think.)
looking forward to install pics. good luck!

I do t know how the new one is suposed to bolt in tho.... My old one has the 3 bolts and the 3G has 2..... Can anyone shed some light on this? I grabbed the alternator from a 94 Taurus like one of the 3G swap threads says...

Midnite1987 03-30-2012 04:13 PM

Just found this

If you have a 93-96 302 or 351W: you have a Side Mount 3G already but a 95 amp one. You DO NOT need to get a wiring harness, as since you already have a 3G, it's plug and play!!! I strongly urge you to get a larger charge cable and megafuse though. This is your current alt:

This is the one you need:

Here's a great way to tell the difference:

For a 130 amp, you can get that for a:
93-96 V8 Econoline with Air Conditioning or the High Output Alternator options
97-03 V6 Econoline E-Series or F-150
95-01 4.0 V6 Explorer or Ranger
at your local parts house for less than eBay. You can also get 160 amp alternators, with NO core charge and cheaper than a new 130, from Ryan right here.
You'll need the one for late serp. vehicles.
The Side Mount can be swapped into:
1993-1997 5.0L, 5.8L & 7.3L Bronco/F-Series/E-Series
Other vehicles that use a Side Mount alternator
Or you could try to find one like that at a junkyard but good luck.

I'm guessing that I'll have to get bigger power wire/fuse? Where's the current fuse for my 95A?

deljac 03-30-2012 10:17 PM

i didnt find a fuse for my 95a. i used the fuse and holder out of the contour i got my alt from

Kaizer88 03-31-2012 11:29 PM

what did you type in on ebay to find those led lights?

Midnite1987 04-01-2012 01:08 AM

im guessing your talking about the red dash lights .... if so then

these are the first red LED bulbs i had for the dash but didnt like them

Picked up this relay for my tbird fan upgrade.
http://i1110.photobucket.com/albums/...d/1d996dec.jpg

Also think I found my "clunk" from forwards to reverse and from 1st-2nd. Bad motor mount....

Midnite1987 04-04-2012 10:58 PM

fixed my broken dash mount on passenger side, no more rattles!!!

swapped in the 130a 3g alternator inplace of my old 95a 3g one.
upgraded to 2ga wire and added 175a maxfuse in line.
foundout the belt is too long tho..... had a 1020k6 belt before had to use a 1010k6 belt. (try explaining to the guy at the parts store at 8:30pm that you want a belt that is 1 size smaller.... without him asking what vehicke and saying the original belt is the one it shows.....i dont care what it shows i want 1 SIZE SMALLER!) 30 min later i got a belt and back up and running again.

there was a fuseable link in the wire for the 95a alternator right before the solenoid.

new alternator and belt inplace

Midnite1987 04-04-2012 11:37 PM

also found out that my truck protects from the alternator from being stolen.....
cracked the first bolt loose and the factory antitheft started wailing on the horn.....
so aparently someone could steal my truck but not the alternator.....

anyone know how the antitheft is suposed to work? its gone off twice on me. once reaching in the window unlocking the door and getting in but have never been able to get it to do it again.... lol and now with the alternator
