Standard:5-spd man w/OD (Ford MTX-75 transmission)
Optional:4-spd auto w/OD (Ford AXOD transmission)

5.4's wont have 5 spds. Its either going to be a 4R70W, or possibly a R4100......which is the HD one, but most have a 4R70W.

Not positive,but pretty sure.
97 & 98 5.4 had a E40D and 99 to 03 or 04 Heritage model had the 4R70
The 4.6 in all those years got a 4R70

Correct it is an E4OD precursor to the 4R100. After '98 very few had the 4R100.
