intro, yet another new face
hi people, short time lurker. intro is in order. these are my third and fourth Ford trucks, the previous two being a '68 F250 utility truck and a '67 F100 Ranger, both long since sold off.
car forums helped me a lot with my cars, so now that my attention has shifted back to my trucks i figured i should join one for it. CURRENT TRUCK PROJECTS STATUS E350: ordinary white cargo van, bone stock. been super reliable for the most part but last month it left me stranded with a mystery no-start directly after fill-up. occasional funky moldy smell from the vent/heater, how the hell do i get at the cabin filter etc., i don't know much about this one yet and i don't care for newfangled things like OBD2 and such. F250: about 15 years ago i bought this one off the original owner, not running with 4 flat tires and a disintegrated everything, now it runs and drives and starts the first turn of the key like it should and hauls around my cabover. just finished up a set of headers and a Y pipe exhaust with 3 1/2" dump, yay no more exhaust leaks. exhaust guy just showed me where the overload springs were missing/removed, crap, must find. watch out for boiling fuel in the float bowl and/or vapor lock in hot weather, it left me stranded in the Central Valley until nighttime once. this week: fixing some wiring and just got new window regulators and speedo cable in the mail!!! /fingertwirl more photos later, i promise http://i38.servimg.com/u/f38/15/18/67/20/twofit10.jpg http://i28.servimg.com/u/f28/15/18/67/20/pictur13.jpg |
Glad to have you here Scott!
The neighbors aren't cutting you any slack with the parking...you're gonna need a shoehorn to get that truck out of there :D |
Welcome to FTE Scott! Join in the fun & have a blast. Everyone is really nice & helpful too.

that's great to hear! while this isn't exactly my first kick at the cat, i'm looking forward to the inside info just like i got for my cars, saved me a lot of grief. they both need a lot of TLC with one being as old as dirt and the other having more miles than a commercial aircraft.

Welcome Scott
Really like that color scheme on that year of F250:-X22 |

Welcome Scott. I learned this technique while living in France.

thanks for the welcome!
i should do more about that surface rust and that's "my other hobby" to the reverse so none of that will be necessary thanks, esp considering what it actually is. but yes, the bumper and hitch are welded directly to the frame, the bumper seems to be some prehistoric super heavy 3/8" thick plate steel thing and i would highly recommend that modern cars not run into it.:-X10 http://i68.servimg.com/u/f68/15/18/67/20/shiny10.jpg |
and one of these

Is that black one a Bertone? Call me crazy but I have always liked the older style Volvos. Even before my dad bought a 1978 245dl.:) I would love to find an '84 turbo in good condition.
|
yes good eye, both the black and red cars are real deal Bertones. true to their Italian DNA either has left me stranded roadside at one time or another.

moar truck pics.
not pretty but it gets the job done. this truck has a dealer installed air, i am intent on getting that going but only after i solve the 'vapor lock at high temps' issue. http://i48.servimg.com/u/f48/15/18/67/20/notpre10.jpg |
Maybe I'll look for a Bertone when I get my settlement. What year is that black one?
|
'80 and good luck, getting hard to find the 262c's- the local marque specialist wrecker won't even take one so they go to the PnP or crusher!!
