Leaky T

http://www.krookedminds.com/forum/fi...12011_leak.jpg

Noticed a leak today. 2008 Expedition. Searched around for a diagram to find a part number, but no luck. Anyone know what part this is? Its the T fitting in the pic, circled in red.
Also, any advice on changing it out?

Seth5051,
Check out this Diagram

Heater Hoses, 2008/From: 12/04/2007

Doesn't look like the "T" part is available by itself but the assembly isn't to pricey.

Part # 8L1Z18472A about $35 from Tasca.

did you get this fixes?

my 2008 expedition has the same issue. what is leaking?

berry1234 03-24-2014 06:19 PM

It's a heater hose assembly, so coolant is leaking.

glenbillups 03-24-2014 06:31 PM

did you fix it yourself? or should i go to dealership? it is a small leak but not sure if I should worry.....

how much to fix if you don't mind me asking?

thanks

berry1234 03-24-2014 07:14 PM

You should get it fixed soon. The coolant can leak on to the spark plugs and cause a misfire.

There are only 3 connections, so you should be able to do it yourself.

as berry1234 said, its coolant and it will mess up plugs and the COP's. I dont remember the exact price for the hose assembly, but it wasnt much. Once its replaced, be sure to clean up the coolant anywhere you can.

Thanks. Bought the pieces on amazon last night for 44. And also bought the tool. Was that a waste? 17 bucks. I couldn't figure how to disconnect the hoses then saw a tool online.

I cleaned up as much fluid as I can. Hope it makes it one more day. Not a huge leak. But I saw some fluid in the spark plug holes and tried to dry it.

Had same issue. Must be an "engineered" failure...I don't recall needing the tool for my Exp. Helped my buddy last week with his Chevy and he needed it.

Mine failed catastrophically while towing my boat. Thankfully, it failed right as i was dropping the boat off at the storage yard. You're getting a bit lucky with the telltale leak. Good luck getting it fixed up.:-drink

Did you fix it yet? If so was it.

has anyone replaced the heater hose on a 2008 Ford Expedition? Could you explain the process and where you purchased your part

As an installation note, I do not recommend buying the removal tool. All you have to do is push the rubber hose into the aluminum pipes with one hand while pressing the white plastic stoppers with the other and pull back on the rubber hose. The white plastic stopper will stayed on the aluminum pipe and you can remove it afterward. If you look at the new hose assembly, you will understand. Also, I do not recommend draining the coolant; instead, you can just put a pan directly underneath the lower connectors and disconnect those first. All you will lose is the coolant inside the hoses and a little more from the heater core, but the amount is negligible, and does not worth the extra effort.
