Way up firm and high
 

After I got the bed installed, the truck had a really decided rake forward. Probably a combination of a lighter bed and worn springs in the front. I mounted the pickup box as low as I could, but it still looks like a 4 wd. I wanted it more level so I went out to my stump behind the shop where I save leaf springs and grabbed an armload of 2" leaves (leafs?). Anyways, I added 3 per side. There was room in the u-bolts and I had a couple of longer center bolts from doing this a few times before to other rigs. It took about an hour per side and went well. I gained about an inch. The springs added about 3/4" by nature of their thickness, and the added arc contributed the other 1/4". That's my weekend story.

Nowhere as much as my ex wife....... And I'm gonna have the upholstery shop add a lot of foam to the seat. 9800 lb gvw can't be a smooth ride.

It dose kind of look like a 4x4 but you have the lock out hubs in the back? LOL. I still think it's great.

Aren't those old spring piles nice things to have?:-X22 That is what I'm riding around on. The original front springs on these trucks were not made to carry much.

That looks really cool. When are you going to put the outer duals on?

I used the dually pickup axle so I'd have the right width for the bed and still be able to run dually type wheels as singles like on the factory built F350 9' express I sold last spring. Had I kept the factory stakebed rear axle, I would have had to cut out the inner fenders of the bed and still not had 48" between the wheels. I think It would have made a cool dually, but I run a cabinetshop and need the 48+" between for plywood. I also have a nice '63 Alaskan camper that I intend to load in every now and then. F250racer, I like how you have yours set up, but with this extra width axle, I don't see it on mine.Thanks for all the nice comments. Here's the 9' F350 factory job I just sold.

oh ok. Yea well it still looks nice the way it is, just wondering if you were ever gonna throw the outers on. On mine I had to have custom spacers made so the wheels stuck out farther.

You don't happen to know Doug, the guy who does maintenance at the golf course on Vashon? He's married to my GF's sister, Wendy. Nice guy, but he wastes all his spare time fishing. All that time he could be figuring out widths of rear axles and fenders and gear ratios and well.... you know, the stuff that really matters......

looks like you could widen the rear fenders and step plates and be able to get the dualies under it but also looks like the rear fenders would stick out a looonngggg ways. either way that's a nice looking fridge.

Thanks, my 37 ford 1 1/2 ton has about a thousand board feet of fir on the bed and today we are sawing a bunch more, so I thought I'd christen the fridge for a day of work. Glad you saw it for a work truck. We load the logs on the mill with a 51 ford 8n with a boom.
