Ignition switch - 1 thru 6 terminals
 

Can someone tell me what connects to each terminal on the 1975 F250 ignition switch pictured below?

Looking at the back of the switch, the key would turn counterclockwise.

I would think your best bet would be to try and find another 75 and use a test light to figure out which wires do what in the different key positions. One or two of them is going to only have power when you are cranking on the motor. on my 78 there are two large yellow wires that have constant power. Then with the switch on all but 2 or 3 of them have power. Then there is a red one with a blue stripe on mine that had power when cranking on the motor. Hope this helps

thank you sir. good stuff! where do you get it from. i am currently rewiring my entire truck, with a "universal wiring harness" and am having some problems with it?

These are from the factory shop manuals. They don't include the wiring schematics though; those are in a separate "wiring & vacuum" manual, which I don't have. I only have the '75 & '79 shop books....

If I see something I think is in the book I look it up, scan it, re-size, upload and post it.... Someday I will find them in *pdf but for now this works.

any idea where to locate the wiring and vacuum diagram? and thanks for the above

Most dealers have a library and sometimes you can talk the parts manager to photo-copy a page for you, of course it helps if you know him..... What area are you having problems with?

thanks again oldstyle, just checked the switch, and it is ok. now if i can do the same for my headlight switch, and figure out the instrument cluster wiring, i should be in pretty good shape! thanks again

I am doing the same thing here. I have a brand new ignition switch purchased from LMC truck, and whomever their wiring engineer is, this person has one heck of a sense of humor. All of the wires in the plug that I bought are black.

I thought I was gonna die when I opened the package.

Here's what I did. I went Ford crazy. I bought the 2 F250's that I have, and now, just for grins, I want nothing but Ford keys hanging on my key rack here in the house, so when someone asks me for a key to something, I can tell them to get the Ford key.................."Alrighty then!"

I am installing a Ford truck ignition switch on my Onan generator and on my 1989 JCB 1400B backhoe. That will give me every vehicle that I have, "Powered By Ford", except mother's car, which is a Pontiac Grand Am.

I need to know what each spade is intended for on the back of my new switches, simply because I cannot lay down under the dash because of disability to read what is already there.

Any help?

LMC's engineer probably named Chen-Lee Wong and he lives in Shanghai.

:-huh:-huh:-huh I know what you're asking but there are diagrams/drawings in this thread with info on how to identify the terminals and test the switches. Don't ya see them????

Nevermind. Reality just set in here. I see that the diagram I'm looking for is posted.

To the OP,
If you can swap the 75 to the 79. I did. It gives you a couple extra wires to play with and that sure comes in handy.
