475 vs 477 V8 question

Helpin a friend work on an old Cabover Ford with a 475 V8. Just curious, we checked the books and 477 is the same bore and stroke and I know it's basically the same engine. What are the differences that made them call one a 477 and the other a 475 ? Is it like the 361 and 359 FE based engine, one has a cast crank or what ? :-huh

Bump, anyone ? :-huh

IIRC 475 is a later, detuned to some degree smog motor.

Scroll down to Numberdummy's post, number 6.

That's about it.

If he's going to run this thing commercially he ought to look into a repower imo.....:-X03
